  1. He is a US citizen. USCIS has approved further visas since the TN where my employer laid out my experience working in the sales engineering role.
  2. I worked off and on in the US from 2020-2023 completing rotations through various divisions within my company. I entered the US on a TN visa as a manufacturing engineer. My visa was approved for three years. I worked in Illinois for parts of 2020 and 2021. For the first half of 2022 I was out of the country for work before reentering the US in July 2022 to work for my companies sales office in Ohio. My company never amended my TN visa to reflect the new position. My visa expired in 2023 and I moved back to my home country for work. I re-entered the US in September 2024 on an L1 visa. I am in the process of applying for a green card through my husband while on L1 status. Will my companies failure to amend my past TN visa affect the green card process? I was not aware that my TN visa was never amended until a couple of weeks ago.
  3. My husband and I finally got our marriage certificate. We got married in Canada back in July. We finally got our marriage certificate and the officiant put the wrong date for the marriage. In addition, he put the wrong place of marriage on it too. We have everything else lined up ready to go to submit our green card application, but the marriage certificate has the wrong marriage date. We have requested paperwork to amend the marriage certificate, but it will take 6-8 weeks just to receive the paperwork. Then another 10 weeks before they send a new one. What are our options in terms of submitting our green card application? Should we file the green card application with an explanation on why the marriage certificate has the wrong date and that it is being fixed. Or should we wait until the marriage certificate is fixed before submitting our application?
  4. I entered the US on an L1-B visa back in August 2024. My employer has offered me a new job in the US that is going to change my job responsibilities. They will have to amend my L1-B visa to reflect these changes. What is the process like to amend my current visa? I’m a Canadian citizen and my L1-B visa was stamped at the Toronto Pearson Airport. Will I need to take the amended petition to the border service at the airport or will my employer just file something with USCIS directly? What is the timeline if my employer has to file the amended petition directly with USCIS?
  5. Do you have something from USCIS I can reference? I am unable to find anything.
  6. I will still be an employee of the company, but I will be on maternity leave.
  7. I am wondering if I am able to take a leave of absence while in the US on an L1 visa. I am married to a US citizen and we are going through the green card process. We just found out we are pregnant, but the green card process will not be complete by the due date. We want to make sure I will be able to take a leave of absence while on an L1 visa. What needs to be done to document the absence if I am allowed to take it. Appreciate your help!
