  1. A more reliable status than I currently have, and during the long wait for my turn, I might even have time to obtain Canadian citizenship
  2. I have an approved I-140 under EB2-NIW ROW, but the priority date is still a long wait. I currently reside in Canada as a temporary resident and have the opportunity to obtain Permanent Residence. With PR, I might even manage to get a Canadian passport if placed under Administrative Processing (AP). Would obtaining PR in Canada be viewed by the U.S. consulate as abandoning my immigrant intent for the United States? In my opinion, it shouldn’t, but the lawyer handling my Canadian PR application mentioned that when they used to deal with U.S. visas, they wouldn’t recommend getting PR while awaiting the EB2-NIW consular interview. To me, this doesn’t seem logical. What are your thoughts on this?
