While is not necessary update your citizenship status right away after naturalization, It is wise to do so as many states rely on DMV data to verify voters' citizenship. Lately, an alarming number of states have incorrectly purges thousands of registrations as they incorrectly flag voters as "non-citizens", so updating your records with your local DMV may be the right thing to do in order to avoid future issues with your voter registration.
