My wife (a U.S. permanent resident) needs to go back to China to care for her ailing father. It's possible that she may need to stay for more than a year, so we're filing Form I-131 application for a reentry permit. When I Google for whether 2 passport-style photos are (still) needed for the application, the answer I get is "yes," but the relevant part of the I-131 instructions doesn't say that (see the attached image). My wife is in nether category called out in those instructions. I tried calling the USCIS help number to get confirmation, but I can't get past the useless AI voice assistant. There have been recent changes the I-131 application requirements (such as that a separate biometrics fee of $85 is no longer required), so it's very possible that an older passport-photo requirement has been removed. Does anyone know for sure whether or not photos are required?
