  1. Hello, I'm the petitioner of my spouse. I had previously divorced 5 years ago and I have my certified divorce papers that my spouse will bring to the interview. On the embassy page, there is a checklist for interview. in one part, I am confused if they are asking for my(petitioner's) previous marriage certificate (not divorce)? Checklist goes like this: Birth Certificate: The applicant must obtain an original and translation of their birth certificate and those of any family member immigrating with the applicant. Marriage Certificate: If you are married, you must present an original marriage certificate.  A certificate is required for all marriages, including those that have been terminated. Petitioner’s Divorce Decree(s): If the applicant is applying for an IR1 or CR1 visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and the petitioning spouse was previously married, they must provide evidence of the termination of every prior marriage of the petitioning spouse. The evidence must be an original or certified copy of a final legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers. Divorce Decree or Death Certificate: If the applicant was previously married, they must obtain evidence of the termination of every prior marriage.  The evidence must be an original or certified copy of a final legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers. It doesn't say applicant or petitioner for marriage certificate, (but it spesific petitioner for divorce decree). My spouse was never married before and obviously we will bring our own marriage certificate but, are they also asking for my previous marriage certificate? thank you if anyone clear my doubts.
  2. Thank you, is filing for 2024 mandatory for an interview that will happen in April 4, 2025? Are we definetly going to have issues if I can't file? This is what they put on the checklist email - it says most recent but technically it is okay to file taxes for 2024 until April 15th. IRS Transcript and/or 1040 Tax Return Form and W2 Form for the most recent year from your petitioner and any co-sponsor, if any. If you have a co-sponsor, please include their US passport copy green card copy.
  3. My wife (beneficiary) will have interview in April. I am the sponsor for her and we uploaded I864 to NVC before. Do I have to file my 2024 taxes before interview? I sent her my previous tax return transcripts and W2 for 2024. I just can't file my taxes until next month because I'm waiting for a financial document, but I don't want to cause a problem for the interview. Anyone can advise?
  4. thank you for replies. I have the wet signutre and raised watermark copy and i will physically mail it to my spouse. My only other question is; we uploaded I864 affidavit of support to CEAC/NVC. Is it okay if we just download it and bring it to interview? i don't have the original form that i filled, signed, scanned and uploaded.
  5. hi lil bear, by scan of it, i mean electronic version of certified copy. it is literally the same document Clark of city gave me. i uploaded the same document(scan of certified copy) to NVC. do i need to physically mail this document to my wife? or forwarding the email is fine? (this email has PDF version of certified copy of my divorce decree which is identical to paper copy)
  6. I am the petitioner of my spouse for green card. I am currently in Texas and my spouse will have interview at the local consulate. She told me, she needs to bring original of my divorce (previous marriage) paperwork to interview which we submitted to USCIS before. I got a certified copy of my divorce paper, can I scan it electronically send it to her? Or do I need mail it in paper? it looks the same with signature and everything in both PDF and paper. Will we have a problem if I let my wife print it or do I need to mail this to embassy? If anyone can clear my doubt, i will appreciate.
  7. Hello, my wife has scheduled for interview at embassy. I live in US and can't travel because of work. After my wife gets her visa (CR1) at the interview, Can she travel/enter to USA without me? Do we have to enter the USA together? Is there a risk of spouse entering the USA alone? I am US citizen and she is foreign applying for green card abroad. regards..
  8. I actually just noticed there are also some questions MISSING/NOT APPEARING on the form, but on review page they are unanswered these are the questions: I don’t have these questions in my DS260 form which are in other Applicants’ DS260 forms 1- Is your mother’s address the same as your father’s? (Yes/No) 2- Have you belonged to, contributed to, or worked for any professional, social, or charitable organization? 3- Do you have any specialized skills or training, including firearms, explosives, nuclear, biological, or chemical experience? 4- Have you ever served in, been a member of, or been involved with a paramilitary unit, vigilante unit, rebel group, guerrilla group, or insurgent organization? 5- Can you speak and/or read languages other than your native language? Do I still just submit? i can't find any answers.
  9. Hello, I just had a frustrating issue right before submitting DS-260 form for my spouse. When we review form before submitting (review format), we noticed that one of the questions ["Is your mother's address the same as your father's?"] is showing up as unanswered but when we look at the actual online form, the question doesn't appear as an option to respond to. I searched online and saw someone posted the same issue on reddit, but no solution: Please advice, i don't want to submit with missing info but i don't see the question on the form. thanks.
  10. yes i know, thank you. I just thought i could provide the WHOLE address on info sheet. Unfortunately, even with the abbreviations it won't fit. I tried with handwrite as well.
  11. Dear people, i just don't know if my approach is acceptable here. My spouse's foreign address is really long and there is really no short way of writing it. Also, address has some characters like -,+ and form doesn't allow me to type it. I can't even fit it if I try to hand write it. Please see my approach to overcome this. I typed "REFER TO LAST PAGE" and I wrote full address there. Would this be okay?
  12. I downloaded my 1040 tax transcript from IRS website, form is the 24a-c asking for total income on page 2, or adjusted gross income on page 3 of the transcript? please see screenshot for what i am referring to. on the transcript there are two incomes, one for total income, another for adjusted gross income. which number/field should be entered on form i-864 many thanks!!
  13. Hello again guys! I was wondering if you could help me fill out our form i864 again. I think I know where we screwed up, and I just want to make sure that we get it right this time. My hubby is my sponsor (no joint sponsors), and he's sponsoring only me. No parents, no siblings, no child. So on part 3, item 29 we should write "1", right? Then, off to section 5: persons you are sponsoring on this affidavit, 1. What confuses me is the section "Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit". What should we put in "yourself"? And also, if you are currently married, enter 1 for your spouse. Yes, he's married to me, but if I put 1 in there our household size becomes 3(but we are only 2, wife and husband). What should I write there? Would somebody be so kind so as to help me, please?
  14. thank you for answer! it makes me feel good. just to confirm, i filed my 2023 taxes "married filing seperatly" i had W2 and 1099 last year, and i was full time employed (W2) and some freelance(1099) For financial documents: 2023 IRS tax return transcript, Employment letter with salary Last 3 months paychecks is this all enough? just checking before submitting, so much thanks.
