My interview was during the first week of October. We arrived at 7:45 AM, and after about 10 minutes, we were allowed inside. After a security check, similar to what you experience at an airport, we took an elevator to the first level. At the security gate, they gave us two tickets with numbers on them. Our number was called, and a female officer asked for our documents. She was very kind, reassured us not to be stressed, and helped us relax.
After reviewing our documents, she directed us to another window for fingerprinting. Once the fingerprints were taken, we were called to another window for the main interview. The interview lasted about 20 minutes, and the officer was very nice and friendly. He asked me about my background, education, why I am considered of national interest, and other questions similar to what others have shared here. The process was very straightforward.
The officer mentioned that my case still required some additional processing but assured me they would try to resolve it as soon as possible.
Overall, my experience was positive. There’s no need to worry—they are very friendly. Just be honest, prepare your documents two weeks in advance, organize everything properly, and double-check to ensure all is in order. They mainly want to validate and verify the documents and the claims made in your petition.
I recommend arriving in Montreal at least one day before the interview, booking your return ticket for the day after, and staying in a hotel close to the interview location. And of course, enjoy beautiful Montreal while you're there!
