  1. Like "pushbrk" said, pls give him all the originals that you have and tell him to make photocopies of them all. He will present both originals and photocopies at the interview with other documents some of which I mentioned earlier, but the originals will be returned to him immediately, and most times even the photocopies would be returned as well. If you have any questions, let us know, there's no shame in making inquiries about something you don't yet understand.
  2. You need to send soft copy of your 2023 tax transcript, soft copy 2023 W2, soft copy of Bills(any of electricity, water, telephone 1 month, registered to your residential address), soft copy of your pay slip(2 months should be ok), soft copy of your employment letter ,and soft copy of any government issued document you uploaded to NVC. Send the following hard copies to him: Original copy of your marriage certificate, original baby's birth certificate(as proof of relationship). He needs to do a photo collage pictures you both appeared in at different times and since your relationship started, print some of your chats, call logs and everything that proves your relationship is real and still existing. You can search the platform (VJ) for possible IV interview questions collated. You house address, employment/employer, your family background, your interests and hobbies. I hope this helps
  3. You have to create an account on "AVITS: usvisaappt.com". Advisable to create the account once you have your interview date at hand; login into your account and register for document delivery. When they alert you that your documents have been sent, then you register with "OIS", login and navigate through the "Visa Application" icon to schedule an appointment to pickup your documents at OIS/DHL. It's a process I've been through, I learned in a hard way with delays. But no need dragging the matter, the embassy is open to all.
  4. When his interview email arrives to him, he'll know if polio is needed prior to the interview. But they gave me the vaccines my vaccination record didn't cover and I paid for them right there.
  5. Nothing on the website says you would be able to pickup your passport at the embassy. When you get to the bridge, you'll understand what to do. No picking up of passport or drop off is allowed directly at the embassy in Nigeria. You go through DHL/OIS. Your passport comes through these those two organizations
  6. Well, normally returning passport to is supposed to with 2-3 weeks after interview, but I'm facing the same rhythm right now, as my interview was Sept 6 and visa issued on Sept 9, but they have not returned my passport till now. So, if you have a way of reaching out to them for a reminder of your passport you may start trying now or have you received your passport? Any updates?
  7. Did you give the small envelope to the CBP along with your passport?
  8. It's required that you either had taken the polio vaccine prior to the medical or you'll pay for it during medical, which is more expensive than you might get it outside the Medical organization. If you want to get it before the medical exams, make it closer to the medical exams and go their with all your vaccination cards, It's very important or you may have to pay and take it again. Go there with all you vaccination cards, not just for polio.
  9. This should actually answer his question. You can renew your visa and still keep the old one. My wife's old US passport was not damaged and when it expired last year. She had a Nigerian visa on the old one and was carrying both: she never encountered any problems anywhere. She just presented both at the port of entry. I advise you first ask your country's immigration about keeping it, and renew it if their policy doesn't destroy the old one
  10. Pick it up?! No picking up from the embassy. That's what I was saying that since interview Sept. 6 till this moment I've not received my passport, even when visa was issued to me Sept.9. The reason presented to them was not taken anf they gave a counter statement against the reason in May but changed their minds to expedite the process for me June 30 and NVC sent my case file to the consulate July 1. Consulate scheduled interview August 8 slated for August 30, rescheduled interview on August 27 slated for Sept 6
  11. Just like the first person said, you'll need to see "issued" on the visa status check, but that not the final. I think getting your passport depends on the workload of the Consulate and "only God knows what else". My visa has been "Issued" since Sept. 9 and I'm still waiting for my passport. I've made several calls and chatted but nothing beyond "the embassy will send your passport and send you an email when your passport is sent....." If I know the phone number of the US ambassador, I would've called to plead for the return of my passport since there's visa in it already..😂😂😂
  12. This is right. And that was even on expedited process since July 1. The workload with backlog of applications in Lagos is crazy. Till this moment, my passport hasn't been returned to me despite interview Sept. 6 and visa issued Sept. 9. If you think you have grounds for expedite process, you should try it and hope NVC/Embassy find a suitable time for your interview, and also pray you're not put in AP after interview
  13. Have you been able to navigate through the website to schedule your pickup? I went through hell navigating the website for that purpose but I finally got it. The website has some wrong directions on navigation. What stage are you at the moment?
  14. Pls, is anyone with an approved and issued immigrant visa experiencing delay of passport return to him/her. This is weird
  15. Since your status says"READY" after interview, I think it means your passport is ready for pickup. Have you tried contacting the courier service the embassy uses for documents delivery? If your visa was approved at the interview or sometimes after the interview and status later says "ISSUED" with the narrative that "your visa has been printed....", and afterwards says "READY", Then, I think your passport has left the embassy and with the courier. I advise you contact the visa service section of the US embassy in the country where you did your interview.
