Hello!
Today I received request for evidence in regards to the I-751 that I filed. The letter requests a written explanation for filing my petition late with evidence to support good cause and extenuating circumstances.
I am panicking.
"Your jointly filed Form I-751 was filed 7 DAYS LATE (CPR: EXP; 02/26/2023/FILING DATE:03/02/2023) and you did not submit a reason for filing late."
My conditional green card expiration was 02/26/2024. I mailed Form I-751 with all documentation/evidence on 02/24/2024.
I had made the error of assuming the document would be accepted as post dated from the date it entered the mail. I have not found my original recipt yet for when I mailed off the document, but I have a statement from my bank on the date.
Also, I had received a letter of extention of my green card for 28 weeks from the date of expiration.
I'm feeling lost as to how to proceed. I plan on writing a letter of apology for the delay and misunderstanding the 90 day prior timeline. But I feel that I lack evidence.
