The path of least resistance is to submit the document as soon as possible. IMHO, there's no point in arguing about the ones you already submitted. Procure the documents (make sure they are the right ones) and re-submit... even if they were the sames ones already submitted.

Yep thanks that’s what I’m about to do now after talking to my lawyer.. I just don’t want them to reject because I missed something and submit the same thing twice

  2. Hello all,

I had my N400 interview on 3/25 and got an RFE today 3/28, asking for original arrest report and certified court documents from an arrest 8 years ago (the case was dismissed at the end).

I am confused because the officer took away these documents already at the interview? So I am not sure if I sent the wrong documents or being asked to mail in the same documents again?

For context I also had an RFE also when I applied for removal of condition and these were the same documents requested back then; I knew that I would them again for N400 eventually and thus requested two copies, one of which went to the ROC RFE and the second of which was handed over to the officer during the N400 interview.

Any insights would help a lot here, thank you.

  3. Just had my interview today at the NYC Field Office downtown (applied 7/31, received interview notice 2/14)

I passed the civics, verified personal info and went over yes/no questions.

Then the IO went over the details of my only arrest - from 8 years ago - which was ultimately dismissed without conviction. IO took away the certified copies of the disposition and police report and told me that this would require another review (by the supervisor or by herself?) and thus 'a decision cannot be made today'.

Since I provided the same documents I used for RFE during removal of condition (I requested 2 copies; 1 for ROC the other for N400), I am certain that these documents are sufficient. Now it is just a matter of how long the review will take. IO did mention that 'it shouldn't take that long' but i am not sure what to expect here. On my way out I had a chat with another officer and she mentioned that very occasionally this Field Office would have same day oath but today we weren't that lucky. So I guess this is the best outcome for me. 🤞

If you have urgent need for US passport due to upcoming travel, you'd be better off going to passport agency. If you have proof of international travel within a week or less, you may get passport very fast.

Obviously, you can only get passport after oath. And the timing on that isn't in your control. But hopefully it will be same day as the interview.

    Keep us posted!

Thanks will do, I can totally book tickets for that, and I hope it’s easier to secure an appointment at the passport agency than N400 interview in NYC these days…

Depends on your case and how full the ceremony already is for that day.

Seeing reports that some people had same day oath indicates there is a possibility of that. Considering you have a morning interview, this possibility is theoretically higher. But nobody can say for sure ahead of time. You'll learn it on the day. So I'd be ready for anything. Good luck!

Thanks I will have the passport stuff ready and bring with me that day. I don’t know how fast it is to get a expedited passport these days so I don’t want to waste any days at all

  6. submitted 7/31

interview was scheduled just now for 3/25 Federal Plaza NYC

does the NYC FO ever do same day oath given that my interview is at 10 am?

also, the estimated processing time of 7.5 or 8 months are pretty accurate for me for NYC, as between the day I submitted and the day the case gets a decision (interview date) is 1 week short of 8 months

hello I filed for n400 in October 2024, I have the receipt of notice on November 8th 2024 saying uscis is actively reviewing the case, its been almost 3.5 months (February 2025) and I haven't seen updates on the uscis website for my case interview, my field office is NYC, processing times for NYC are 7.5 months, can someone with experience share an idea of the estimated time for my journey on n400.  please let me know if this is normal

I’m in NYC too and applied 3 months before you and I’m still waiting for interview to be scheduled, don’t expect it anytime soon NYC office is very busy

I applied august 1st in Seattle and I still have not received an interview notice. I submitted a congressional inquiry about a month ago and it came back saying they're still processing my application. It's already outside of normal processing time for Seattle. I'm so frustrated. any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I applied 7/31 and Emma told me that on 2/5 my FO placed me in queue finally for interview. Meaning the background check took almost 190 days at NBC. My FO is NYC so it probably will take a while to get an interview too.

I'm making sure nobody misinterprets that MyProgress appearing or disappearing has anything to do with case actually progressing. It disappears and appears independently for many cases sitting still without any updates.

Hopefully Emma told you some real information, half of the time it's made up.

Current processing times for Philadelphia is 7.5 months - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

While that information is also super unreliable, most of the times cases take at least the stated processing time.

So for Philadelphia filers in November 2024, I wouldn't expect many interviews until 6-7 months into the process, which lands us in May-June of 2025.

Good luck and keep us posted!

yep I’m in NYC and 6 months in and Emma said the case is still with NBC
