Hi everyone,
Our family based immigrant visa has been issued with the usual 6-month validity but due to family circumstances we will not be ready to immigrate until the end of the year. Is it possible to travel to the US during this time on short visits without actually immigrating, or is the first time you enter the US after IV issuance considered officially immigrating? Specifically, is it possible for the derivative family members to travel during this time if the main beneficiary does not, or will there be issues at the border?
Since I'm a Canadian citizen I can travel to the US without a visa and on top of that I have Nexus which means I can even travel to the US from Canada without my passport. But will this create issues at the border because I assume CBP can see in their system that we have been issued immigrant visas.
Thanks for your feedback.
