Hi guys, my fiancé’s K1 interview is coming up. We’ve noticed a red flag, and I don’t know what to do at this point. I’ll share the time line.
- I was separated with my ex husband around July 2019, however, there was no legal document for this separation. Divorce request were submitted in the early 2020.
- I met my fiancé on the internet in December of 2020.
- I met my fiancé in June of 2023 for the first time.
- The final divorce decree came in Oct 2023 due to COVID, a lot of cases were waiting to be processed.
- Petition filed in December 2023.
So according to the time line, I met my fiancé before the previous marriage officially ended. Will this affect his visa? How should I address this to the CO?
The reason for the previous marriage to end was because my ex-husband was barely home, and never took responsibility. We also have a baby together, he grew abusive towards the baby, I found out when our baby was 2 years old. He spanked the baby’s butt till purple dots and bruises appeared. I kicked him out of the house and refused to have him stay with our baby alone.
