  1. Luckily for me driving here is mostly the same as in Austria, just a bunch of small differences. I recommend downloading a drivers test app on your phone (mine on android is literally called 'Drivers Test'), on the one I got you can set the state you're in, do practice tests and it explains why the answer is right/wrong. I like studying by doing practice test questions, I did the same for the GED. I passed the road test too now, I only looked up youtube videos about what to expect and they explain it well, though obviously I've had a good amount of practice with 4 months of driving in the US.
  2. I got my physical and went to the dmv to apply, but did not expect to do the knowledge test right then and there! Luckily I got enough right, was psyching myself out on a few questions tho 😅 Overall getting a license here is pretty straightforward, in my home country it takes way longer and costs like 2k nowadays...
  3. My EAD card was delivered yesterday, same day as the approval notice arrived. I didn't know it's valid for 5 years for some AOS filing categories, that's pretty neat in case the I-485 takes longer than a year.
  4. My I-765 was a standalone approval, you can see it by the name on the documents tab. I assume they view the I-485 as main filing and the other ones are marked as concurrent.
  5. The I-485 is the first box without it and I-765+I-131 are in a second box where it says concurrent filing on the top left.
  6. I just got the approval for my I-765 roughly 2 1/2 weeks after biometrics, block IOE09286. I read it could be approved within 1-2 months but didn't really believe it, thanks for the nice surprise USCIS 😄 I also needed it to prove my immigration status by beginning of March to stay eligible for the PA health insurance (I-485 receipt notice wasn't enough for them), so glad that's done even if no combo card.
  7. I have read that I-765 may get approved quicker without also filing I-131, but I still wanted to get it as there is no way to know how long the green card will take. Then again some people never get Advance Parole and get the green card first so who knows 😑 I'm just glad my K-1 application was approved quickly and I can wait here with my wife and daughter, I planned for around a year long wait for the green card.
  8. Sadly no, hoping to get it within a few months. Fingers crossed for a combo card so I can visit my home country before starting a job while waiting for the green card. I've seen that AOS from K1 took like 3-6 months in 2024, but also that processing times are increasing again? I don't know what to believe, we'll see.
  9. I had my biometrics app 2 weeks ago, I filed I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrently a few days before you guys and believe I am on the same block number 09286.
  10. That was also the case for me, it changed pretty much right after the biometrics appointment was finished. Now all that's left to do is wait... and get a driver's license in the meantime. Luckily I can use my foreign license in PA for up to a year to bridge the gap, has to be difficult in other states without that.
  11. I can confirm that, my biometrics appointment the past week was for both I-485 and I-765, I read that it's normal for the I-131 not to be included. Hope you guys get an appointment soon, it sucks that it's so unpredictable. Then again you might get approved before people who had biometrics earlier, who knows?
  12. After filing I-485 etc. I got the uscis online access code by mail, added my cases to my account and also saw the biometrics appointment notice as pdf file under I-485 documents almost a week before it arrived in the mail.
  13. Update in case someone else would like to know about this topic: The county courthouse in PA advised me not to do the self-uniting marriage as I am not a U.S. citizen, so we got married in front of the judge. It all went pretty smoothly and we're happy that we went this route. Thanks again for everyone's input.
  14. Hello, I came to the U.S. recently on a K-1 visa, got married and now live with my U.S. citizen wife, our child and my wife's mother in one household (they have lived together for several years before I moved here). I'm preparing the documents for AOS at the moment. My wife and her mother make 34k each; 68k combined per year. 125% requirement for a 4 person household is 39k. If I understand it correctly, then my wife fills out I-864 and her mother fills out I-864A and their incomes can be combined. Please let me know if I am correct on this. Thanks in advance for any help.
  15. We'll have to research some more and think about it, if the county tells us the marriage certificate is exactly the same as with judge/officiant it may be fine. Thanks for sharing your experience.
