  1. Lo and behold, the answer was right there all along! It says "EXEMPT from 2 year rule."! Thank you!
  2. Hey there! My wife in Japan and I are finally at the NVC stage and are looking over the DS-260 form when we saw the question "Are you a forever exchange visitor (J) who has not yet fulfilled the two-year foreign residence requirement?" Now my wife did study in the states before on a J1 but came back to Japan in May of 2018. However, she came back yet again on a different visa (Q-1) in May of 2019 and came back from that in April of 2020. Technically, she didn't do the two year rule back in 2018 since she came back only a year after but had been in Japan from April of 2020 to July 2023 before coming back on another visa. I guess what I'm asking is, should we answer NO to that question since she technically DID meet the requirement from 2020-2023 and also since her J1 was back in 2018?
  3. Thanks! Thank you again for assistance! I appreciate it!
  4. My wife and I have decided to look into submitting a K-3 to possibly expedite our I-130. Now we know it's a long shot but why not try? My questions are basically: 1. Just confirming this is physical package I have to submit, right? No online way of doing it? 2. Am I ONLY going to submit the 129F or do I have to include my online completed 130 as well? 3. If I'm sending it standalone, I don't have to include payment since I already paid online, correct? 4. Is it just the 129F I'm submitting or all previously submitted evidence as well? Thanks in advance for your help!!
  5. Oh. She WANTS to change her last name for sure! Long story short, Japan doesn't allow double last names so to make it easier for her life in America and Japan if we have kids, she wants to have my last name for an easy process with their names. Yea, she's aware of that and will get a new passport, drivers license, and insurance card as well in Japan. I'm hoping they don't give us too much trouble for her having changed her name after we already submitted the 130.
  6. Yea, that's also another benefit she was thinking of in regards to changing it. Makes it easier to get a driver's license here and whatnot. Thanks! Ha, we had debated whether we should have filed with the married name but had no idea the process was harder down the like in Japan. Thus, we're doing it now. Thanks for confirmation about NVC!!
  7. Hey all! First post on this site! My wife and I got married in Japan and we submitted our I-130 last year in October. I'm currently in the states and she's in Japan waiting for our approval. She's now thinking of changing her last name to mine since Japan makes it super easy if it's done with 6 months of marriage, otherwise it's a LOT of paperwork to change it later. By changing her last name, she'll receive a new Japanese passport and new driver's license with her new last name. My questions is, will this cause any issues with our current I-130 form since it has her maiden name? And do we have to submit any new documents while the I-130 is pending? I've read some posts on the website saying it won't be a problem since the NVC stage asks for those documents but just wanted to double check! Thanks in advance for the help!
