  1. Thing is, my mother's side of the family is Venezuelan, at the time of living there I did have a national ID, I don't know whether or not it's expired but I did have it at one point, and the website is still not available to request these records even in that case, it's completely inaccessible right now and it's been for at least a few weeks as far as I'm aware.
  2. Complicated situation, I'm living in Colombia where I'm doing the whole process, the only thing left to do is the interview. According to the instructions, if I have lived in any other country after 16 years old for more than 6 months I am required to bring a record from that country as well. The problem is I used to live in Venezuela in that time. The only way to get a record from Venezuela no matter where you live is through a dedicate website, and currently they have said website locked to prevent anyone from getting any papers, which is intentional on the government's part. There is no way at all for me to get this record even though I have never committed any crimes or been arrested, even if I were to ask someone in Venezuela to get it for me they would be told to wait for the website to open again as no police station can or will do that, and this website has been locked for at least weeks as far as I am aware. I was trying to see if I could contact the US embassy here in Colombia for help, but they make it very difficult to contact them, the only email available as far as I know for visa cases told me they can't help and to go to the embassy website, and the website only has a google form to navigate for more specific questions, but has nothing for this kind of situation and they outright refuse case by case questions. I'm already trying to contact the Venezuelan consulate nearby just in case, but it's very possible they can't do anything about this either, so what else can I do in this situation? And how will it impact my interview and visa approval? I was trying to look this up and it seems that you can get a notarized letter explaining in detail why certain papers can't be obtained, is that true and still applying currently?
  3. Hello, asking here as well to hopefully get answers from anyone who has gone/is going through the process here in Colombia. To make it brief, our i-129f approval expires at the end of august, but the only appointment for the interview we were able to get is at the end of september. I tried calling the embassy yesterday and emailing, both only telling me they couldn't do anything to help, and I can't find any other contact to be able to either move the appointment or confirm we can extend the approval's validity time. Can anyone confirm if the embassy will really automatically extend it on their own when it's getting close to the expiration date? Or if there's anything I have to do to make sure this won't be a problem by the time I show up at the interview? Being unable to get any straight answer even from the embassy itself is honestly being so stressful I don't really know what to do about this since I can't find anything about this situation when it comes to my country and the embassy not saying anything when most online topics on this say to call them or that they *should* extend it on their own without confirmation.
  4. Bogota's embassy, it's the only one we have here available. Unfortunately we received the email with full instructions and asking us to schedule the appointment at the end of june, so half of the validity period was already gone by then.
  5. Hello, I have been searching online all day for an answer to this, but everywhere there's different answers and I'm not sure what else to do about this. I'm in Colombia if that helps. Our i-129f approval expires in late august, but the closest appointment available for the interview that I was able to schedule is for september. I tried emailing the embassy itself with no answer, tried calling and was told by the person on the phone that he couldn't offer an extension and the only thing he could do was schedule the appointment for this month instead, which is also not an option since the closest medic check up I could get is for mid august, so the only other two options he gave me were emailing the center in charge of interview appointments here (I already did after calling so I need to wait on an answer there) or schedule an emergency appointment and hope that will fall within the i-129f validity period. Online all I can find about this is to call the embassy, which is what I tried today, or that the embassy itself will automatically extend the validity period or email you about extending it, though no confirmation on when it will happen or if it can happen in my country. We don't really have anything else we can check as everything says this is in the hands of the embassy, so could anyone offer any help with this? Either confirming that the embassy will handle it and it will be fine to just wait to hear of an extension, or any other form or contact we could try? Is there anywhere we can check online that an extension has been granted and what happens if we don't get this extension confirmed to be done by the time I have to go to my interview?
