  1. In the Netherlands, when a father acknowledges their child (in my case 18 months after my birth), they can change the name immediately upon acknowledgement to his surname. That's what he did. The birth certificate gets amended and that amendment shows the name change. The Dutch government states at https://www.government.nl/topics/registering-a-birth-and-name-of-child/question-and-answer/which-surname-can-i-choose-for-my-child: The birth certificate is evidence for the name change, given that it is amended, so does that mean I'd need to upload it at the place where I uploaded the marriage certificate? Or should I still wait for the NVC stage?
  2. This really worked for me too, thanks For me, it didnt' work with the free version. I had to get Adobe Acrobat Pro. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or if the pro version is really needed. Luckily, there's a free trial. After that you can just get the document into your favorite PDF reader that you want.
  3. When I was born I was called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname. I was called as such for the first 18 months of my life. Now I am called Firstname Middlename FatherSurname. This name change does not have a court order. It simply is stated on my birth certificate that I'm called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname. This birth certificate has an attachment where it is stated that my father acknowledged me and that the family name is now FatherSurname. Is this enough evidence of a name change? In what part do I upload this? There is a name change part to upload it, but in the way it is worded it is insinuating that there's a mismatch between relevant documents. Such as for example, our marriage certificate and my passport (e.g. my marriage certificate would have MotherSurname and my passport would have FatherSurname). However, this is not the case, all names match. I was simply called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname eons ago. Nowadays everything has FatherSurname on it. So I'm not sure where I upload the birth certificate on the online I-130 form.
