I am an American-Canadian employee of the United Nations. For nearly 3 years, I have been stationed in Beirut, Lebanon. My wife is a Canadian citizen with no US status. I might be accepting a position at headquarters in New York City soon, but I really hesitate on this due to the long timelines of applying for a Green Card. I was recently reading about Direct Consular Filing -- is this actually a possibility? Does anyone know if this can be done in Beirut? Can this be done pre-emptively, or must it wait until I actually have an offer in hand?
