  1. Hi all, I've been approved for an intracompany transfer and plan to enter the US on a L1 visa, with a dependent newborn on L2 and my spouse who is simultaneously enrolling in grad school on an F1. To make our first few weeks slightly easier, we've asked my mother to accompany us (on a B1 visa), while we settle in and figure out childcare options. I'm wondering if the CBP will doubt her intent to return to her home country - for context, she's already been to the US a couple of times on a B1 visa previously and has never overstayed. A second option is for her to enter the US by herself 1-2 weeks after us - it's slightly inconvenient but a doable option if it makes things easier with CBP. Would appreciate your thoughts - thanks!
  2. Hi all, A couple of weeks ago, I applied for an F2 visa to accompany my spouse for their Master's program in the US. When I applied, I seemed to be eligible for an interview waiver (as I've previously held an F1 visa), and as of now, my current status is "Pending Consular Authorization". As I can see, the next step would be for the embassy to mail me the instructions to submit my passport, or for me to schedule an interview (if the interview waiver is not successful). Meanwhile, the company I work for has offered to transfer me to the US, which means I would need to submit a L1 visa application. I would prefer to move there with my company on L1 visa, while my spouse also pursues their course. Now, my question is whether: (a) I should go ahead and submit an L1 visa application, while the F2 visa is concurrently under process (b) Wait for a decision on the F2 application, before applying for the L1 visa (c) Withdraw the F2 visa application (not sure how to do this tbh), before applying for the L1 visa My preference would be option (a), since it seems to be the simplest and quickest - but wanted to understand if there would be any implications on the grant of the L1. Thank you for reading!
