Montreal Consulate EB-2 Interview Wait Time - Part 3
Canadian24 replied to TBoneTX's topic in Canada
@sapkde9 Congrats!!! Such great news! Per your last question, personally I would call the medical office and ask. These medical offices are really used to it, they do so many, so they probably know. The ones in Montreal were super knowledgable when we went. Also it depends if they send the results electronically or if they give you a sealed envelope at the end. Cheers! -

@Emmajapan Expedite in Montreal are really rare. They are usually only for medical reasons. It's stated on the government website that a job offer is not ok for expedite. -

@Mano17 Hi Mano! You are right that you need new Police Clearance if it's going to hit 2 years for the interview. For each family member. It says so when you register and on the links in the letter. For the other countries I don't know, but there is a lenghty paragraph on that specific subject on the governement website link in the letter. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#pre_interview_checklist All the best! -

@mmountain Yes, it would be easier if you convince sapkde9 to give you full editing access so you can maintain the original and keep everything organized. The dates are not even organized anymore. I’ll be out of VJ soon, so I’ll let you take the lead on what you think is best. -

@mmountain Yes the “June 2025 Copy Montreal EB Visas” is the one I created because the original was not being updated/in disorder for months and we didn't have full editing access. The original is a bit of a mess by now and seems to have incorrect info added since. It's owned by sapkde9. You can look at the version history to see who changed what. Cheers! -

@Anelisse Hi Anelisse! I’ve done quite a bit of research, since we thought my husband might only be able to fully join me between 6 months and a year later. It’s definitely a grey area, but from what I’ve found, they generally understand that the first year can take time to fully relocate, sell your house, etc. Popping by occasionally while you’re in the process of moving seems fine in that first year. It’s not the same as someone who is already established and leaves for over a year and never returns to the U.S. (that’s when you’d need the I-131 re-entry permit). From what I’ve gathered, you just need to activate your green card within the 6 months, then make sure you’re spending some time in the U.S., even short visits, and building ties here (like opening a bank account, getting a driver’s license, etc.). The “6 months to 1 year” concern usually applies if you don’t come at all. Since we’re coming from Canada, it’s relatively easy to at least visit and build ties even if you didn't totally move yet. Feel free to DM me if you’d like to chat more about it! -

@mmountain Hi, yes that's a great idea. I'm in the midst of preparing for the interview so don't have much time. You can perhaps take that on? You can ask on the Google sheet for access and I'll make you an editor. -
*For anyone reading this thread later: after some research, it seems that to move plants across the border, you can’t bring any soil at all, not even on the roots. Since I’m moving from Montreal to California, I figured they probably wouldn’t survive the trip, so I’ve decided to give them away to friends and family instead.

@Emmajapan Hi, you have had a lot of such specific questions. I think you really need to get a American immigration lawyer to look at your case. This is a forum for people waiting for their Montreal interview. You really need an American immigration lawyer to help you with these kind of questions. All the best. -

@SaphrinThey are not really at April 2024 as I received my IL and I'm July 2024. I didn't expedite or did anything special. So it's between April to July 2024 right now... Perhaps the only thing I can see is that they might be prioritizing Canada as a country of chargeability, but I have no idea. -

@SAHK Yes, you'll need to get a PPC once she turns 16. I'm not sure if it's possible to get it before her birthday, but I don't see why not. The place where you got yours should know. -

*also, as Appleblossom mentioned, October is when a new batch of visas is issued because worldwide EB visas typically run out by mid-August. The new fiscal year begins on October 1st, so even if our interviews are scheduled for late August or September, they'll hold on to our passports and only issue the visas after October 1st. So there is a bunch issued beginning of October. -

@Journeyman23 Yes you are right. If you look at the Google sheet there is a bunch of IL last summer on August 4, 6 and 9 for interviews in September. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NnYTWRgdQB9gj2SyQjBL3fzz5-OS9FJZQXFXCbSe0Ig/edit?gid=0#gid=0 -

Thanks everyone! From what I remember from last summer, I feel like a bunch of people got IL within weeks in a weird order. The days from my IL to interview is 60 days, which is pretty long. So perhaps April-June 2024 DQ will get IL soon with a shorter IL to interview time like the 30-45 days we often see. Rooting for you! -

Hello everyone! I am happy to say I've got IL! Our interview is September 19. I'm DQ July 23. Country of chargeability Canada. There must be a bunch coming this week!🎉 -
@Lemonslice Oh thank you! That's very helpful!! Did you get your car insurance records as well from Quebec to show your new US car insurance? I've been reading that I should try to do that...

@Lemonslice Thank you! I'm still thinking about it... You are right with the amount of bandwidth. I will follow up if I decide to go ahead!
