Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time-Part 2
Canadian24 replied to Blueeyes1989's topic in Canada
@Tom007 Not exactly sure what you mean by Welcome Letter: you mean your DQ letter (the letter saying all your documents and DS-260 are approved and you are now in the queue for an interview)? You will receive the DQ letter by email. You will receive it and your lawyer will receive it by email as well. -

Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time-Part 2

I am EB1 so I am not an expert on EB5, but from my understanding and from what I read here for a year, once you DQ, all employment based are in the same queue. So yes you would probably get your interview letter around April 2025. The thing to look though, is to look if your priority date is being current. You can look in the Visa Bulletin. The visa bulletin seems to say that if your country of chargeability is Canada (not China or India), you are always current like EB1. So yes around April 2025. The last Visa Bulletin: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2025/visa-bulletin-for-november-2024.html -

It's more than a year wait. They are at DQ September 2023 right now. EB-1 doesn't go faster than any other EB. We are all in the same line once you DQ. Nothing to do but wait! -

For the Montreal medical, the last time I talked to them, they only book you right before your interview (I think it was 5 days but I can't remember exactly). You can call them to make sure and to ask: QUEBEC TELUS Health Care Centres 600 Boul. de Maisonneuve West, 22nd Floor Montreal, QC, H3A 3J2 Tel: 514-845-1211 Tel: 1-800-361-3493 -

*They talk about pregnant women many times in the page. Read the whole thing. But basically she will get a waiver for anything that is considered dangerous to pregnant women, thus they will not be required for immigration. -

No, vaccines that are dangerous for pregnant women are not needed in this case. It is clearly stated through the CDC link given : https://www.cdc.gov/immigrant-refugee-health/hcp/panel-physicians/vaccination.html?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/panel-physicians/vaccinations.html The doctor at the medical exam will write a waiver: "In general, panel physicians should defer vaccines when a precaution or contraindication is present. If the decision is made to defer a vaccine, the "contraindication" reason for a Blanket Waiver ..." -
Thank you. I've look it up and you are right. Wow. Our border crossing accountant is part of a big US-Canada cross accounting firm in Montreal. You would think he would not have mislead us on such important matters! I'm understanding that we will have to find a way to do US resident taxes even if Canada says he is a tax Canadian resident as well.

Hello all, I would need your help with this as I can't find any info and I'm guessing there must be people who needed time to wrap things up. We are getting our EB1 greencard soonish. I am planning on living in the US as soon as we get it, but my husband wants to stay in Canada for an extra 1.75 years to fulfill his Psychology license. He will come to the US vacationing often, every couple of months, but won't live in the US more than 2 months/year for the first 2 years. Because of this he plans on applying for a re-entry permit (Form I-131) correctly: going to the US and to wait for the biometrics and all. But our cross-border accountant said as he will be in Canada for more than 182 days/year, he will be a tax resident of Canada. Does being a tax resident of Canada have an impact on the US greencard? Also because of him, even if I live in the US full-time, I will likely also be a tax resident of Canada (ties). Does that have an impact on keeping my greencard too? Are there treads about people needing an extra year or 2 to wrap things up? I can't find them. Thank you so much for your help!

Congratulations! Such great news for all! -
Hello everyone, I am wondering if the interviews in Montreal for the EB-1 applicant (me) and the accompany (my husband) are scheduled separately or is it one date together? I just DQ, I want to move to the US as soon as possible, but my husband wants to work one more year in Canada on top of the interview delays before moving (🙄), so I'm wondering if we can delay only his interview and not mine when I get the interview letter. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am wondering if any of you here crossed as a tourist to the US after being DQ and waiting for the interview? It seems many comments in the 1-30 saying they crossed as tourists until they got the green card, but double-checking here if there is a difference with EB? I am Canadian, living in Canada, just DQed for an EB-1 and starting the long wait for the interview. I had planned to go to California as a tourist trip this winter for a couple of weeks. Thank you! -

Hello, I am new here. I'm a Canadian in Montreal. I just DQ in June 2024 for an EB1. I saw on their website that Montreal interviews were around 1.5 years wait. Is that what I should expect? So December 2025 /Jan 2026 for a June 2024 DQ? Is there a spreadsheet for EB1 to follow others wait time for interviews, I saw some for other categories? If someone can answer the link, thank you! Thank you so much and fingers crossed to all of us!
