No worries! haha and that's good there are some nice cafes around - I might need to get something to eat and drink before. Will the wedding in August be in Oregon as well? In terms of collecting the passport that makes sense. I am still undecided whether to collect or get it delivered. How long is your notice period for work?

We felt it would be easier to deal with a specialist law firm and that it would reduce stress while ensuring we were doing everything correctly. I mean we could have done it ourselves but we didn't want the additional stress from it. Our lawyer has been really good (no issues there - he has answered every question) but I have found the paralegal we are liaising with in terms of queries difficult and I thought in terms of the 6 month query that it was incorrect so I have emailed them back to see if they have misquoted by mistake as everything else online says date from medical so just waiting on their response and explanation regarding that.

Oh really? I'm from Leicestershire so probably about 40 minutes away from him haha so it sounds like you are waiting for the approval instructions letter to be sent you. Is that right?

I forgot to ask but can I ask why you decided to collect your passport from London instead of having it delivered? I haven't sorted whether I want to collect mine or have it delivered so interested in your reasons why you decided to collect.

That was a quick sale then - I guess it's all lawyer paperwork to complete the sale now then. And definitely sounds like it is worth waiting for. It's a months notice for me too! Just curious but what part of the UK are you moving from?

Hi ScarletWitch6x, Thank you for the advice. It sounds like you fiancé is similar to me then as I will need most of the 6 months regarding work notice and sorting things out. Have you been able to book your medical and interview yet? I keep checking the visa interview appointment site but there are no dates and times available when I look. Also what part of the UK is your partner from? Thank you!

Hi all, Just wanted to check but is it 6 months from the date of the medical or from the date of visa approval? As the medical place when I rang them about this and have said to me that the medical is valid for 6 months and within that 6 months from the date of the medical I need to obtain the visa and then travel to the USA, however, I have asked our law firm this question as well and the paralegal said it was 6 months to enter the USA from date of visa approval. I have seen different answers online regarding this and it has left me really confused about it. Hope you can help!

Oh I do plan on scheduling the interview - I just need some dates to be come available still. That's good you have found a buyer for the house. How long was it on the market for? The bonus makes sense as well - any extra money will help. Is it 4 weeks notice period you have to give your employer?

I am still trying to reschedule the interview date but unfortunately no appointments available at the moment still so our law firm is contacting the embassy about it. When you are going over to the USA now you are approved or are you still deciding on that?

Hi Joseph, Thank you for letting me know! I appreciate the advice and help. So was your interview this month? How did you travel to the embassy? I'm looking at either getting the bus or train into London then either getting a bus or the tube to on the way to the embassy. Also what state are you moving to?

Hi Joseph, When did your petition expire originally? And what date was your medical and interview? Just curious because I am going to have to do something similar to you as my interview will be after the petition expiry date due to a delay in receiving my police certificate. Hope you can help!

Hi all, One of the paralegals involved with our case has said that you can have the visa interview before the medical. I won't be doing it that way as will be doing medical before visa interview, however, I am just curious if anybody has done it this way around in terms of the process? As I haven't been able to see anything online regarding this. Hope you can help!

Ahh that sounds similar to me then as I had a delay with the police certificate and have some work commitments as well. And I thought the interview would have had more questions? As I think I read online it takes about 15-20 minutes to do. Did your visa instructions letter take a long time to arrive after you got the notice of approval? As mine ended up arriving about 7 and a half weeks after the notice of approval letter.

Ahh - did you have a delay with receiving some documents for your medical or interview or was there just no dates and times available to book when you looked on the site? So just to confirm they didn't ask at all why it was after May 4th? How did your interview go btw?

I did inform our law firm assisting us with the case and they did contact the embassy asking if they could extend our petition validity and the embassy did respond but they didn't say yes or no to it being extended.

Hi all, My petition expires at the end of the month but there are currently no slots for me to schedule my interview at the embassy. I keep checking regularly though. How is the petition validated when after it expires? Does the embassy renew it automatically, do they need to be contacted or do I need to bring a letter? Has anybody been in a similar situation where they have had their visa interview after their petition has expired and if so how long after the expiry date was it? I am anxious and worried about it as there was a delay in receiving my police certificate. Hope you can help!
