  1. Apologies I could have worded my original post better. I know that there is a termination fee with my provider already but what I meant was that I was more curious to see whether people had cancelled their UK phone contracts when they moved? As was interested to see if they kept their phones and phone numbers, etc. I will need to have a look more in depth to see if there is anything I will need my UK number for (I think it’s likely I will need it for things like codes from my bank) but I think a SIM only deal sounds a very good option and not a bad price as well. I will have a look into that a bit further! Thank you for the advice @appleblossom.
  2. Hi all, I had my visa interview last month where I was approved and issued. So I now have the process of sorting things out in terms of shipping my stuff over to the USA when I travel later this year. I think I already know the answer to this but I just want to make sure. I was just wondering if people had to cancel their phone contracts and pay a fee to do so? As I will have about 6 months left on my mobile phone contract when I plan on travelling. Hope you can help.
  3. Congratulations on your visa being issued. Has your passport and visa been delivered since you posted this?
  4. Keep checking the CEAC status as it will say “Issued” when the visa has been sorted
  5. It was 3 working days for me
  6. Hi all, I had my visa interview 2 weeks ago and I was approved which is great. I just wanted to ask people what shipping companies/couriers they used to send their items over to the USA if possible please? I have been looking into a few already (DHL, Fedex and UPS) and been getting a few quotes. Hope you can help.
  7. Just thought I would give my opinion on this if anyone else on the forum was still deciding on hotels. I didn't stop in a hotel when I had my interview as I stopped overnight at my cousins place but if I did then I would just look at a Travelodge or a Premier Inn that is near the Embassy.
  8. I didn't because throughout the process I have seen online and on the paperwork received from the Embassy that they advise or recommend you to not book any trips so I followed their advice. I only booked once it was confirmed that I was approved.
  9. Yeah that is fine - my fiancee did the same when they sent it over to me
  10. Ahh yeah it can get very hot for sure!
  11. Oh really? haha did you grow up there then?
  12. Ahh yeah I have heard of the Kentucky Derby! And California.
  13. Ahh so you have had to a wait a little while. What state are you applying for? And I don't think I had to wait too long for the NVC and London Embassy.
  14. Thank you! And yeah definitely contact them - I found all the staff there helpful. It took about a year from my fiancee submitting the petition. And I will be travelling later this year. When did you submit your petition/application?
  15. Thank you - I had my visa interview last week though where I was approved so really happy about that! When I did ask medical related queries when on the phone to Visa Medicals before my medical appointment they were generally able to advise on most things but one or 2 people did say that they didn't want to advise on medical queries as they weren't medically qualified and that it was better to speak to the nurse. You could still try calling them and they may take your details and then ask a nurse and then call you back or you could email them?
  16. I'm not too sure unfortunately but you could put a post on the forum and see if someone knows or you could wait until the medical and speak to the nurse about it? Before I had my medical I was informed by Visa Medicals over the phone regarding my appointment and on the booking confirmation email that I needed a Covid booster vaccine but I decided to wait and see what the nurse at my medical appointment advised me.
  17. I had 2 doses in 2021 and then a booster in 2022 so 3 doses there and then a booster last month. Have you had the vaccine before?
  18. I would keep checking the site regularly to see what dates and times become available
  19. Apologies but why would you need more than one Covid dose?
  20. Yeah £98 is what I paid for mine. Also it might be worth speaking to the nurse when you have your medical as they have all the vaccination requirements, etc. When is your medical?
  21. There should be a list of Covid vaccine providers in the medical appointment confirmation email.
  22. That's good then! Glad it's all sorted now.
  23. I think DX Freight just deliver Monday to Friday from when I looked online
  24. I would just call them - it's more direct and easier. And no I received it by email.
  25. It should be ok. I had 6 weeks between my medical and visa interview. Once I got Covid vaccination proof I emailed over to Visa Medicals. After 2-3 days I rang them up and they said they would look into and get back to me. They rang back and left me a voicemail saying they had checked with the nurse and my file had all been signed off and was ready for the courier to collect and deliver to the embassy the next day. The vaccination worksheet was sent not long after that I think. I would give them a call tomorrow and ask them to give you an update.
