  1. How did the interview go? Sounds like it was all ok?
  2. Glad that you have at least got the SSN. I can imagine that this period has been very stressful while you have been waiting for it. Are you going to go back with the documents and collect the card soon?
  3. They did and I called the Office number
  4. I rescheduled my original interview although that was in the UK but I just kept checking everyday (usually once in the morning and once afternoon) for an alternative date and time that was suitable for me to become available. I only checked 2-3 times a day as I did read online that sometimes only a certain amount of logins were allowed but I don't know how accurate that is.
  5. I called them today as it had been a week since I called and the lady on the phone said it was processed yesterday and should be delivered to me within 1-2 weeks
  6. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows if there are delays with SSA issuing SSN at the moment at all? Normally on the forum I have seen quite a few people say that they have got theirs back within 1-2 weeks after their appointment, however, it has nearly been 3 weeks since my appointment and not received anything as of yet. It does say on the letter from my appointment that it can take up to 4 weeks so I am mindful it can take a bit longer along with that there were federal holidays recently (Christmas Day and New Years Day) along with being closed on the 9th as well. I will give them a call in about a week or so for a status update though. I have seen a few people on the forum recently say that they had to wait a bit longer than usual as well. Is it normally a bit slower this time of the year (due to staff levels and federal holidays)? Is it dependent on which Office and/or State that you are applying for a SSN in? If anyone has any insight or knowledge on this then it would be greatly appreciated. Hope you can help!
  7. Congratulations! Glad you both got married. Hope you are able to get the SSN sorted out next week!
  8. Sorry to hear that! Were you not able to go to another county and get married without the SSN? I saw on the SSA site yesterday that they were closed. I’m waiting on my SSN at the moment. Been about 2 and a half weeks but I am factoring in federal holidays in as well
  9. Has been just over 2 weeks since my appointment and not received it yet although I am aware that there were 2 federal holidays recently so hopefully it will come in the next week or 2 (says it can take up to 4 weeks)

  11. Me and my fiancee are also looking at doing Crater Lake National Park in Oregon as well
  12. I'm not sure to be honest but I'm glad you have made some progress with it and that they sent the email to you though!
  13. Yeah I don't think you can actually call them (I think it might say that on one of the letters from the Embassy but I can't remember to be sure) but I did send them an email before when I had a query once and the response time quoted was within 5 working days but the response I did get seemed to be more of an automated response to my query
  14. I think from what I remember the emails came through relatively quickly when I scheduled my appointment but I would give it a day or two like @Dashinka said and then look into it if you haven't received it
  15. Which vaccines did you get since your medical in London? Did you have to pay for the supplementary medical as well?
  16. If you go on to their website it will tell you the packaging requirements and the rules regarding items that can be shipped and can't be shipped
  17. I used Send My Bag after someone on this forum recommended them on a previous post of mine. UPS were the courier that then collected them and then delivered them about a week and a half later. Price wise I found them better than going direct through the other couriers but I do know of other people who have gone direct through the couriers and got a better price so it depends really. Process is pretty easy - Quote, Order, Complete customs paperwork, Package items, Courier collects and then Courier delivers but the website is relatively easy to understand and follow these steps
  18. Hi all, Just an update on this - I had my SSN appointment yesterday and was told I should receive it within 2 weeks. Hopefully I will receive it soon so I can start building my credit score as per what the Credit Agency told my fiancee when she contacted them when advised to by her credit card provider
  19. Hi all, Just an update on this. Had my SSN appointment yesterday at the local SSA Office yesterday. Booked the appointment online (I would recommend this as well as it saves a lot of time) and the appointment last about 10 minutes. I took my Birth Certificate, I-94 and Passport with me as well. They asked me some questions and to confirm that the information I had provided on my application was correct and I confirmed that it was. They then said it should be with me within 2 weeks.

  21. Sorry that has happened to you. Hope you get it sorted soon
  22. I provided signed letters of intent from both me and my fiancee when I had my interview at the London Embassy after the NOA2 had expired and they were ok with so I would definitely recommend that you do this
  23. That's great - thank you for letting me know! Glad you managed to find a civil surgeon for a decent price as well
  24. Have they given a reason why there is a delay?
  25. Ahh that's good then! We were able to get our license in California about a week and a half ago and a SSN wasn't required (although I'm aware there can potentially be some variances by State, etc) and the license is valid for 90 days. Hopefully you don't have to travel too far to go to the place where you can get a license without an SSN.
