Hello everyone, I’m a US citizen living in Japan with my Japanese husband. I was wondering if anyone has gotten a DCF without meeting the listed criteria. My father has Parkinson’s disease and recently had a heart attack. Said heart attack caused a major decline in his cognitive health. He went from mild cognitive impairment to dementia real fast. He no longer can be left alone and I think is nearing the end of his life. While it’s technically possible he can live for many more years, who he will be today is not who he will be in two years and I feel a rush to get home asap.
my husband and I were wanting to go back to America soon regardless and I meet all the other criteria for DCF.
What would be advised for me to do? If you think this might count I can reach out to my embassy. If not then I want to start the visa asap because well we need to get there asap.
