Good day. My fiancé is a US citizen, and he have applied for marriage in Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage Court (AJDJ marriage license). After getting married, we are planning to apply for the CR-1 visa.
I've read that the marriage license we will obtain from the Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage Court does not comply with the USCIS requirements of the marriage certificate, so my question is, which steps does my fiancé have to go through to make our marriage license 'fully' legal in the US so that it is approved by USCIS?
We've already figured out so far that my fiancé will need to get this document legalized at the US embassy in Abu Dhabi, shall we also make a certified translation of it before or after bringing it to the embassy?
Also the ADJD website does not say that either of us shall bring a document stating our marriage status, except the divorce certificate if one of us has it (but neither of us does). But the US consulate in Abu Dhabi website states that my fiancé needs one:
So does he need to obtain a martial status certificate prior to getting married or not? Please help, we're totally lost.
