  1. Hello. UAE is not part of the Hague Convention. That is why to validate your marriage, you have to notify the embassy of your country in the UAE right after the marriage. I.e. if you're a US citizen you shall go to the US embassy, that means you should schedule this appointment in advance because you can't just walk in. And these appointments are only available months in advance. We ended up getting married in a country that is part of the Hague convention because it was way easier to get our docs apostilled there.
  2. Hello, my husband is a US citizen and we are undergoing the CR-1 process (NOA1 stage). Our attorney filed I-130 for us, however, she proved to be very incompetent and we withdrew the legal representation. Now we're filing the K3 form. In the I-130, the attorney didn't specify my (Beneficiary's) name in my native alphabet. My question is, if in the I-130 this information is omitted, shall I include my name is my native alphabet in the Form I-129F (page 7, Part 2, Items 49.a-50.f) or is it better to avoid it as well?
  3. Hello. I am currently undergoing a CR-1 process and I would like my case to be transferred to Costa Rica at USCIS stage (before NO2). I am not a citizen of Costa Rica, but we are thinking of applying for a digital nomad visa there. As far as I am concerned, the digital nomad visa in Costa Rica doesn't grant you a residence permit; rather it is just a long-stay visa. My question is: as a digital nomad (i.e. long-stay visa holder), am I eligible for getting my CR-1 visa case transferred to Costa Rica and taking an interview for the CR-1 there? Thank you!
  4. Hello! My husband (American) and I are applying for the CR-1 visa and I am moving to Latin America to live closer to the United States. I am planning to stay in Bogota, Colombia as a digital nomad for now and I aim to specify Bogota as my current address. My question is: can I get an appointment at the US embassy in Bogota for the interview as a nonresident and what are the waiting times there?? Your answers will be much appreciated!
  5. Good day. My fiancé is a US citizen, and he have applied for marriage in Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage Court (AJDJ marriage license). After getting married, we are planning to apply for the CR-1 visa. I've read that the marriage license we will obtain from the Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage Court does not comply with the USCIS requirements of the marriage certificate, so my question is, which steps does my fiancé have to go through to make our marriage license 'fully' legal in the US so that it is approved by USCIS? We've already figured out so far that my fiancé will need to get this document legalized at the US embassy in Abu Dhabi, shall we also make a certified translation of it before or after bringing it to the embassy? Also the ADJD website does not say that either of us shall bring a document stating our marriage status, except the divorce certificate if one of us has it (but neither of us does). But the US consulate in Abu Dhabi website states that my fiancé needs one: So does he need to obtain a martial status certificate prior to getting married or not? Please help, we're totally lost.
