  1. I ended up going with BLS Ottawa and got the passport back in hand in 10 days. (this was during the Canada post strike)
  2. @Lil bear Fantastic! Did your joint sponsor upload I864 or I864A on CEAC portal? And I believe joint sponsor also needs to upload most recent tax transcript, W2 and paystubs...everything on CEAC?
  3. that makes sense! So what I'm understanding is having the joint sponsor won't do any harm and if the officer thinks its not needed during the time of interview, then it just gets dropped. So overall looks like it is a net positive and a much safer option? @pushbrk would love to hear your thoughts too!
  4. @OldUser so do you suggest we get a joint-sponsor, even though main sponsor(petitioner) is a student on stipend that is over the poverty limit?
  5. @OldUser yes, a relative who is employed full-time and not within sponsor's household is willing to joint-sponsor.
  6. @pushbrk @Dashinka We are thinking of getting a joint sponsor. Interview is next month. Will this help solidify our case, given sponsor is student on stipend (over the poverty limit) but not sure if stipend=income?
  7. @pushbrk @powpow13 @Dashinka where do I put the annual stipend amount on I864 form? do I check the box for employed, self-employed, or unemployed? and then do I put the stipend amount under 'individual annual income'?
  8. @pushbrk In I-864 EZ form, there is no option for unemployed, only employed or retired. However, on I-864, there seems to be an option for unemployed. Which form needs to be used to provide updated financial situation? thanks!
  9. @pushbrk @Dashinka we travelled to EU countries after DQ. Do we have to update that on CEAC? If yes, how do we update?
  10. @powpow13 we got DQ with I-864 EZ. Do we now upload an updated I-864 EZ, or I-864?
  11. @pushbrk we got DQ'ed with I-864EZ, so do we upload a new I-864EZ form, or I-864? thanks!
  12. They also offer pickup (regular and premium) option.
  13. What is the fastest way to get the passport back after IR1/CR1 interview? Pickup from Montreal? What location within Montreal is the quickest?
  14. What is the fastest way to get the passport back after IR1/CR1 interview? Pickup from Montreal? What location is Montreal is the quickest?
  15. Hi all! If we upload an updated financial package after we get the interview date, as well as let them know of the address change, will these slow things down during/after the interview? @pushbrk @Dashinka @powpow13
  16. How often are they giving out DS-5535s in Montreal each month? Is it only DS-5535, or 221g too?
  17. Hi there! I came across your review post and was wondering if you could help me out as I'm in a similar situation as you were. My sponsor is a USC who just started grad school this fall but was working full time before that. Sponsor is on a full scholarship and monthly stipend. Also has a new address.

We have already been DQ(before grad school) and waiting for IL. The stipend is still above the poverty guidelines limit but we're wondering if the grad school situation will be an issue during the interview process? What about the address? Do we need a joint sponsor at this stage?

  18. Any May 2024 DQs here? Any estimates of IL dates?
  19. @Dashinka @pushbrk @powpow13 If my wife(beneficiary) had a change in her employment status in Canada - do we have to update that too before interview?
  20. @Dashinka thanks. How can my wife update the living situation? Should she just inform them during the interview? Or does she have to submit an updated I-864EZ, lease agreement, and enrollment/scholarship/stipend confirmation before attending the interview?
  21. I'm a USC and was working full-time when we got DQ (May 2024). My wife (applicant) and I are still waiting for our IL (Montreal) and I've just started my grad school and also no longer employed. I'm on a full scholarship and stipend that is above the USCIS poverty guidelines. My permanent address has also changed to another state where my school is at. Will these things be an issue during my wife's IR1 interview in Montreal? Do we have to update our I-864EZ? Thanks!
  22. thanks @pushbrk. Can I also sponsor my wife as a grad student? I've gotten full tuition scholarship and stipend (that is above the poverty threshold) and will be a grad student starting from August and also during her interview. Do I need to upload additional documents on the NVC website?
  23. I have a unique situation with my IR1 application. I’m a USC petitioner. When we filled out I130, I was living and working in the US but when I filled out the I864 for my wife (beneficiary) I was staying and working in Canada with my wife. My wife got DQ’ed in April and now she is waiting to get the interview date, while I have again moved back to the US permanently. Will this come up as an issue during her interview in Montreal?
