  1. I think it depends on your community. I don't live around many Vietnamese people so it was easier for my family to assimilate to America by having an English name.
  2. I am planning to do the same thing as well. I have 2 binders prepared. One with all the required documents then any other supporting documents will be ready when requested. I think being prepared is important but frontloading too much information will just overwhelm them but makes you appeared nervous.
  3. Sure! I am still early on the process. Our interview will be in December or January. But I do know when this occurs. When marriage occurs her name will be her VN name because it will be her legal name at the time. After marriage, and applying for AOS is when we'll request for name change. She wants to take my last name and adopt a similar pattern like mine. [US name] [Viet Name] [Last Name]. Then every document after that will use her new name. SSN, GC on the I485, driver license then her VN passport. SSN, green card and passport are the major documents that will be updated.
  4. Trang Thi Thu Nguyen (First #2, Middle, First #1, Last) I am going thru that now too with my paper work. My mom had the same thing too where her paired first name was put as her middle name. I call my fiancée by her First #2 but when I want to get her attention I do the full name haha 🤪
  5. Yep, I do believe they already know ahead of time if you are a "red flag" or not for approval. I did do the American style engagement where I surprised her then proceed to have a small Dinh Hon after.
  6. I think it's ok to bring it but you don't need to lead with that imo. If they ask for more evidence then you could show it. Also make sure to bring your family tree paper.
  7. Anything that could be misconstrued as wedding. Exchanging of rings typically a wedding thing. Anything you have already submitted it probably fine already because otherwise you would've not gone further to NOA2. But for the interview, like @sleepynt said don't give more information that is not necessary. If you provide any additional photos make sure it's clearly not a wedding. Good luck! You'll be fine.
  8. When you say stumble what does that mean? Was it completely wrong?
  9. Under settings -> Download your information then you narrow down what exactly you are looking. That's what I did for mine but.... we text in Vietnamese. First my initial K1 I just submitted it something we can continue later if necessary and translate it. But chat logs aren't required.
  10. A photo album that showcases the timeline of relationship seems to be really useful. My fiancée's sister just went through an interview at the embassy. This was for the spouse visa.
