  1. That's great they were able to add your wife and stepdaughter prior to their entrance and without a SS number. It would be prudent for anyone in this situation who has coverage with their employer to do the same. Agreed on it being a positive thing for the interview.
  2. This doesn't apply to me because I'm self-employed and purchase my own insurance from the marketplace, but my concern with what your enrollment person said is, what happens if your spouse has a medical emergency before they complete enrollment. Given their answer, what is the precise day he/she/they would be covered? I personally wouldn't risk my spouse being in the US for a day without coverage. A simple ER visit could cost thousands, let alone a more serious emergency.
  3. I think you're correct, that I can't add my spouse until we have the SS number. Obtaining a TIN number would take too long at this point and we're better off waiting on the SS number and buying private travel insurance with US coverage. The cost of travel health insurance can basically be broken down into two categories: 1) The entire world without US coverage and 2) The entire world with US coverage, and the cost difference between the two is outrageous, another topic altogether, sigh.
  4. Thanks so much for responding. I'm self-employed, though, so have to buy from the marketplace. On your urging, I'll give them a call (in Connecticut it's handled by the state), to see what they say. I'll post here again if anyone is in the same position.
  5. Does anyone know the process for obtaining health insurance in the US for an incoming spouse given the lack of ITIN or SS number? With the cost of healthcare in the US, I don't want my partner stepping foot in the US without coverage. Either an ITIN or SS number are necessary to sign up for coverage, but is the SS number generated immediately at the consular interview? If you've obtained health insurance for your incoming spouse, will you share how you handled this prior to them entering the country?
  6. For Dreamer25: We received our NVC notice of receipt within four days of being approved. We paid the processing fees the same day but are still waiting for them to be in ‘paid’ status. Maybe you should try reaching I out to Emma/INFOPASS for help since you already tried the NVC? It does state up to 45 days for the USCIS-NVC handoff, but from what I’ve been reading it’s typically just a couple of weeks. I hope it’ll be soon for you.
  7. We were approved today!!!! I’m all tears. I wish everyone swift processing and very happy reunions!
  8. Still no news here. Any other August people still waiting? I called Emma/INFOPASS and we’re still at the Texas center where we’ve apparently always been. The agent said, if I’d like, I can file an appeal next summer. We’re an older couple and our time together is limited enough as it is. This is such a heartbreaking process.
  9. How do you know if your case was transferred? We just have the first NOA letter as an attachment which reads Nebraska. Is the transfer posted elsewhere in MYUSCIS or on another site?
  10. But I think if you look at all previous months, the unapproved 25-30% range remains for a very long time. It’s my understanding that that percentage is for cases which are more complex, i.e., by people petitioning for additional dependents, from field offices and so forth, but that straightforward cases are generally approved within 15 months.
  11. Perhaps the petition for your additional child is cause for delay? From what I can tell on this forum, it seems they’re up to around August 29th today. August 4th petitions were processed a few weeks ago. If I were you, I think I would consider reaching out for help at this point. Does anyone know if there’s a number to call if a petition seems to be stagnant, or if there are attorneys who might be able to help with GMF’s situation?
  12. We’re August 30th and still no news. Has anyone here past August 15th been approved?
  13. Congratulations mid-August people! Thank you for letting us know! To GMF3000, I'm sorry your application is still pending when others around you have been approved. Please keep us posted. Positive thoughts coming your way!
  14. MyProgress tab is back again tonight. The date went from 12 months to 4.
