As a postscript to this topic, our EAD/AP was just approved.

    83 days.

Not super-fast, but very reasonable considering present circumstances.

Not unusual. Sometimes EAD takes 6-8 months or GC gets approved first

3 months would be quick, I have seen some quick ones recently not sure how common it is. I would expect them to tell you what you can see online.

No, what they were told is not correct. You are allowed to get apply for SSN after marriage, and plenty of us here have.

I’ll not dispute that it is best practice to apply before, as mix ups like this can happen, but you are well within your rights to apply for SSN as a K-1 after marriage, as long as your I-94 hasn’t yet expired.

ecw1900 got a reaction from Alex and Val in Scheduling appointment in Bogotá
Sorry to keep posting, but I'm just going to update this thread in case someone comes across it later and finds it useful.

I got my biometrics and interview appointments for Sept. 18-19.

What I was doing wrong originally was putting "Sept 4" -- the first date of availability -- in the embassy interview box. Because that date was so early, there were no biometrics appointments available.

When I changed the interview date to the third week of September, that's when a bunch of biometrics appointments became available in the second box.

This may be self-evident, but it was confusing for me, so I leave that here in case someone else was having a similar issue.

Ideally, the airlines gate/boarding agents should know that K1 visa is a one-way ticket. But that does not mean they are all well-versed on all the different US entry documents.

My K1 visa beneficiary had more interrogating questions from the gate agent than the Port of Entry US CBP. I did anticipate some of the hassles and called the airline a couple of days before to leave a note on the flight reservation for the gate agent that the US entry document is K1 visa and a one-way ticket. This might help if your K1 beneficiary is from a weak passport country.

Check several times a day if it allows you to.

That is exactly what i would like to do and intend to do. But if you would have read through my post and all the other posts above you would understand and recognize it's not that easy to just "hand something over" when there is so much on the line. And I would further disagree that it does not "work every time" because people get denied when they dont seek out further information or fully understand the information/requests that are handed to them. I came here looking to get info from people who can understand, empathize, and offer advice to someone like my husband and I.
I appreciate your comment but your comment was not helpful nor was it reflective of understanding of how difficult this is process for many people who go through it. Maybe i am overthinking it but i rather overthink and be sure about what i know than under-think and risk not being able to be with my husband and get him out of a war zone.

As we were taught as children "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all".

As i mentioned above - my mother does not meet the requirements for I864, but the interviewer still asked for it from her anyway stating that we filed the wrong form (form I864A which my mother does meet the requirements for).

I am "worrying" because i am trying to reunite my family, to take my husband out of a war zone where people of his type are being prosecuted and killed, and do not want to face rejection from the embassy, and came to this community for understanding and helpful advice. Thank you.
