  1. We had a consultation today with a lawyer who told us we that I (the petitioner) have to accompany my husband (the applicant) to his interview. His interview letter did not mention my requirement, ability or lack of ability to attend the interview with him. I'm currently in the US so I would have to fly there in order to join him, so we want to make sure I would actually be able to come in with him, but we weren't able to get consistent info online on the matter. At this point we're pretty sure that I'm not required to be there, but I would definitely want to be there if I am able to join him. Does anyone have any info on the matter? specifically for the Jerusalem embassy, since they same to very widely 🤠
  2. Thank you both!!! do we need to update them within the NVC's CEAC portal? or is it ok to bring directly to the interview? we're scared to touch anything in the portal 😅
  3. Thank you for your response, since I may not be able to do my tax return before the interview, would the only change on the i-864 be the "My current individual annual income" section in Part 6 of the document? In that case would you update the i-864 or just bring proof of the employment?
  4. Hello everyone, Back in May 2024, we uploaded my Affidavit of Support to NVC as well as a joint sponsor, since at the time I wasn’t working. Since then I got a job and have been working since July. Our joint sponsor is over the required minimum income requirement for the i-864 but not by much, so we were wondering if it was worth updating or somehow reflecting my new income (which is higher than our joint sponsor). His interview is at the end of January so we figured I might be able to get a new tax return by then, but we weren’t sure if it was the right move. (also the tax return itself would only reflect income for half of the year) Should we just bring proof of my new income to the interview? Such as pay stubs and letter of employment? We want to do whatever will make his interview go as smoothly as possible. Thank you everyone!
  5. Sorry I think I didn't mention it was the DS-260 (which I thought was part of the NVC stage? correct me if I'm mistaken), he listed all of his social media (which use the shorter version of his name), and added said nickname to the "Other Names Used" section like so: Would this be the correct way of doing so? does he need to add an explanation somehow? Thank you!
  6. Hey everyone, my husband uses a shortened version of his first name on his social media accounts, his birth name is "Yehonatan" and on social media he's "Yonatan", he also goes by both names interchangeably in social circles (people usually refer to him either way, similar to someone who goes by John and Jonathan) but he always goes by Yehonatan on official documentation. Should he add it as an alias under the "Other Names Used" section? Is it ok to add it just to be on the safe side even though it's not an official name? I know that this thread is similar, but I think the person doesn't also go by that name, so it may be different in our case. Bonus question: one of his social media accounts is deactivated, but he listed it as he did use it in the last 5 years, would it be weird that the account name leads to nothing since it's deactivated? Is there a way to say that it's deactivated? Thank you all!
  7. Hey everyone! My husband, who lives abroad, got approved for the I-130. we're now at the NVC stage and since I make less than the poverty line, my mom will be my joint sponsor. Our current situation is this: I live with my mom, along with my brother, both him and I are not dependent. My husband and I have no children and he will be joining me at my moms house (once we finish the immigration process). My question is this: would my mom, as the joint sponsor, be filling a separate I-864? or I-864A? Since we live together, I wasn't sure what would be the right procedure, and what each of us (my mom and I) should put under household members. From reading other forum posts with different cases, it seems that the prevailing opinion is that it's better to file a separate I864 rather then trying to combine income with household members, but I wanted to make sure. Also, I wanted to make sure I was filling the I-864 household size section correctly, I'm assuming if my mom and I file separate I864's, we would each have a household size of 2? Ourselves and my husband? (as I stated before, my mom has no dependent children) Thanks everyone!
