  1. Courthouse and then a ceremony. I got married in Honduras where you are required to do the Courthouse wedding first. A week later we had a religious ceremony with his family and friends. The following summer both of us traveled to the US to have a ceremony for my family and friends. and yes I have 3 wedding dresses 😆, You to have to keep it small. We also did Zoom links for both religious ceremonies.
  2. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/foreign-earned-income-exclusion Read all three 3 of your links you sent to me again. @pushbrk also mentioned, if you receive a W-2, you can't take FEIE. Call the IRS yourself if you don't believe the people who just told you. Good Luck!
  3. FEIE is for those employed by foreign companies. I have been filing for FEIE for 7 years because I live and work abroad for an international school. The FEIE form asks specific questions about working for a foreign company. You may have to amend your tax return. I am surprised a professional told you this.
  4. Yes, it is very frustrating and unfair. There is no reason to wait 16+ months for valid cases. I am hopeful that while they get a handle on all this illegal immigration, that those of us doing it the legal way will be treated with respect and dignity.
  5. Hello Everyone! My husband has had a B1/B2 long before we met. Our I130 is weeks away from approval, and we are trying to come up with a plan for the NVC/Embassy stage to avoid too much time in separation. Just a little backstory, I have been living with my husband in his home country of Honduras since we filed the I130. I teach at an international school here, which has the same calendar as the US school system, therefore it is almost time for me to start looking for work in the US starting in August. I need to show proof of reestablishing domicile, while trying to avoid too much separation time. The current wait time for an appointment in the embassy in Honduras is 2-3 months. If all goes well, I am expecting my husband to have his visa by late summer, early fall. His current B1/B2 visa expires in January 2026, so we think it is not even worth trying to renew, as he is getting an immigrant visa anyway. My question is, can he travel to the US with me up until the time it expires? I am wondering if he can travel with me in late July, while he waits for his interview at the embassy. He will bring plenty of proof of his return to Honduras, and will not be resigning from his job until AFTER he receives his visa. Thank you for your input!
  6. That is great that you will see your husband soon! I think it will be approved when he is there. It seems they are moving through October 23 cases pretty quickly. Even though my husband and I are together here in Honduras- we are getting anxious, because I am a teacher and my school really needs to know if I am returning next year, and then I have to begin my search in the States.
  7. I think you got scammed. If they didn't file for you, come back here and let this community help you. If you don't have a complicated case, you can do it yourself, and ask questions here.
  8. December 9, 2023 Online Filer... Our time is approaching. Let's keep this thread going.
  9. I do believe there is a way to place it on hold, but I am going to call @Crazy Cat- who I think might know the answer. Haha.. that was the first person I thought of!
  10. Yes they will ask- and honestly, your current wife should already know this information. Secrecy may be a red flag.
  11. I have seen some October approvals, but yes it seems random, hence the reason I think we should start asking questions.
  12. Agreed- I don't know how many times I have read someone on a forum say "every case is different" this was the response they got to there is "nothing that can be done" with no real answers given to them. The government is accountable to us, regardless. I plan on returning to the public school system to fill a much-needed teacher shortage, and my husband has a job offer already. Wait times for embassy appointments here are short. If we could just get this approval,,,, ahhha
  13. This is interesting. I will contact my Senator soon. I noticed the new director is "acting", so I am guessing they are looking for a permanent one.
  14. The NVC is part of the Department of State. No one is guaranteed within 30 days, not even spouse visas. Moderators like @Crazy Cat are well-educated in the immigration system. You came here for the right answers and that's what you are getting.
  15. So this is interesting... I was just on another forum and someone with a December 11, 2023 filing date was approved today, and their spouse is outside the country. I know they are in the midst of October, right now so it is highly possible for an approval soon.
  16. I have been thinking of contacting my Senator also. I have not reached 16 months yet, but I believe it is time to start advocating and asking questions and I think we are due some answers... the first one being Why are US citizens waiting so long? I think we have a right to ask questions. We pay the fee and are following the law, end of story. I know they have a new director now, so I am hoping for a change soon. Enough is enough... Times are only increasing it is not fair.
  17. This right here... As someone very familiar with Latin American culture, these things are very common in the culture and do happen.
  18. I don't think you have done enough research if you have come to the conclusion the an NOA2 is a visa approval. You have to have the embassy interview first, and as others have recommended, don't have the party.
  19. I saw this and had to rewind and replay.. Could not believe it!
  20. While I agree, that many people can be more productive at home, which benefits many industries, there is also a concern of personal information in people's homes and having no idea who is viewing the screen if the federal employee walks away to use the restroom, etc. Federal employees have access to a lot of people's info...
  21. Take a look at this... I shared this yesterday and this resource says consular processing is also included. https://www.boundless.com/blog/uscis-removes-covid-19-vaccine-requirement-for-immigrants/
  22. https://abcnews4.com/news/nation-world/trump-admin-drops-covid-vaccine-requirement-for-immigrants-immigration-covid-19-pandemic-thomas-massie-vaccination-status
  23. Hello- It looks like that as of today the COVID vaccine requirement has been dropped for medical appointments for both Adjustment of Status and Consular Processing! https://www.boundless.com/blog/uscis-removes-covid-19-vaccine-requirement-for-immigrants/ I know this is going to make a lot of people happy!
  24. President Trump just signed an executive order, stating that ALL federal employees must return to in-person work. I am hoping this will contribute to speeding up processing times!
  25. I have been using Translyte for my documents, They have a quick turnaround. https://translayte.com/
