Rosaly reacted to Scandi in What can my wife do while we wait for AOS?
Totally, the best advise. While some have luck doing it after marriage, many don't. So definitely the best course of action to focus on applying for a SSN as soon as you land in the US, you only have a limited time to do so. After that you have no choice but to wait for the EAD which can take many, many months.

Rosaly reacted to Dashinka in Customs officer told my fiance getting married on the 75th day is cutting it too close....
The CBP officer is wrong, there is no deadline to file the AOS package. That being said, it is best to file the AOS as soon as possible after the wedding and after you get the marriage certificate, and most members here will advise to file within the 90 days if possible. Take your time after entry getting the forms ready, so as soon as you have the marriage certificate you can get the forms on their way to USCIS. Don't stress over it, yes there are cases where people ran into issues by not filing the package, there are also stories of people waiting 1-2 years to file. There are also some locales where it takes almost 3 months to get the marriage certificate, so even if a couple got married the day of arrival, they may not be able to submit the AOS within the 90 days.
Good Luck!

It's ALWAYS time for a nap, I've concluded.
In fact, I apologize to all the naps that I skipped as a child.
Congratulations on what is 99.44% an approval!

Visas are approved after the interview and only after all administrative processing is complete. Verbal approvals are not binding. Sounds like everything is normal. Your only official approval will be noted by the CEAC status.

Had my Interview! I was dead tired but the conversation seemed to have gone well.
I think she said something like "you're approved, the visa will be sent to you in 2 weeks." I didn't hear her right , so I asked her to repeat, she did repeat, but I still didn't hear it clearly. So I just said thank you and walked off. But then I Quickly walked back because I thought that at approval, I was supposed to get an envelope for port of entry which I am not allowed to open. I asked about this and then she said "everything will be mailed to you"
So... I'm approved, I think?
however, I am also in doubt 😅...
I didn't get a packet that I am not allowed to open? Wasn't I supposed to get one?
Did i hear her wrong? Did she say im NOT approved, and that I'll get my passport back in 2 weeks?
But if I heard her wrong and got refused, wouldn't I have gotten my passport back on the spot?
I'm driving myself nuts here. 😅

I really don't think you have to worry too much about dresscode. I'm sure looking well-organized won't hurt you, but remember that you are talking with representatives from a country where 'athleisure' is a fashion statement and people go shopping in the most random clothes.
Edit: Also, GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you'll ace it!

Congratulations!! Thats really good news and i am happy for you both!🥳
I so hope I will have good news on Friday to share as well 😁
And Thank you ! Makes packing a lot easier, although i had sweatpants ruled out already anyway😂 did not know shorts were an option, but also think sometimes they are easier on men wearing shorts in certain situations were a woman should not? 🤔 ...? Or is that a thought I just grew up with? 😅 nevermind! I have a better idea now for what to wear. 😄
Ive decided to start driving tomorrow, it's a 6 or 7 hour drive for me so i wont be doing that at night. I'll stay in a hotel so I can have a nervous breakdown there, throw it all out, then a chill evening and semi good sleep and go there early morning With my eyes still crusty but my mind clear.... yes, sounds like a plan. 😆
I kid of course, thankfully my friend is going with me to offer mental support.
Did I tell yall yet that I'm nervous? 😅😅😆

Hi I was in Frankfurt as well they asked for my fiancés recent W-2 and the IRS tax return they didn’t need any bank statement, employment verification or any other tax documents. I think it’s good to have them but all they asked about are the mentioned above documents and the I-134, my birth certificate, my police certificate, and asked if I had a visa already and if it’s still valid. I believe that’s it 😄 it’s always good to have more but it’s really important to have what they request good luck 🍀

Rosaly reacted to Yareth in K-1 Letter of intent to marry issue
Okay, so, the letter very clearly states what you need to do at the top of the Interview Preparation checklist: "On the day of the interview bring the documents listed below for each visa applicant."
They want you to gather all the listed documents and take them with you to the interview. There is no need to send anything to the embassy.
Now, be aware that the "Letter of intent to marry" is listed as "bring it if not already sent with the original I-129f". So, only if you haven't sent it with your petition. To be on the safe side, you could bring new ones with you, just in case. Also note that they need to be signed ('wet signature'), so the USC needs to send an original to you via snail mail which they signed with a pen.
Good luck!

Rosaly got a reaction from Mixel96 in 129f approved, what now?
I send an email. I found online where and how i had to do that. Response to this was not immediate fo me, but took like 3 days or so.
And i was very impatient too 😂
When they respond they havent received the case yet, wait a a couple days to a week and try again.

Rosaly reacted to Rachel n Tyler in What is department of state?
I’ve been looking into everything for the last months, so I’m pretty familiar thankfully! Someone on here was kind enough to type out their exact experience with the medical, and dealing with the embassy! I was just confused with ‘department of state’ because I haven’t heard of it before in the process. But thankfully it’s just the NVC!

Rosaly reacted to MeghanK in Has anyone entered the US using ESTA while their K1 visa application was in process and gone through preclearance?
My husband used to visit the USA from Vancouver on ESTA about once a month without issue while his K1 was pending. Through both YVR pre-clearance and via land borders. Granted he was a perm resident in Canada at the time (Irish citizen/irish born) and only ever stayed 2-7 days at a time in the US.
I agree with other posters, might be safer to cut down a little on how long you're staying. Also bring documentation for ties to home. My husband always had his on hand but was never asked for it.

Rosaly reacted to SalishSea in Wrong place of Birth
To be fair, I'd say that is atypical for the US. Each state is different. If I were to order a certified copy of my BC, it would take 7-10 days.

Rosaly reacted to Ellie_7 in Wrong place of Birth
I highly doubt any U.S. immigration official will get upset that a mistake was made in the city of birth of a U.S. citizen petitioner. It was not wilful misrepresentation and it is not material misrepresentation.
Also seconding what SalishSea said. A birth certificate taking months to arrive is not typical in the U.S.
When I ordered extra copies of marriage & birth certificates for my state, they all arrived within a week. Also, applying in person for a birth certificate can take as little as half an hour to get the certificate. So, for hopeful immigrants reading through this thread, please do not conclude months of waiting for a simple birth certificate is what you are by default doomed to experience.
I looked up Illinois's Dept of Vital Statistics website and it says requests by mail for certificates are taking 12 weeks for processing. No specific information on how fast VitalChek takes to process.
