I really don't think you have to worry too much about dresscode. I'm sure looking well-organized won't hurt you, but remember that you are talking with representatives from a country where 'athleisure' is a fashion statement and people go shopping in the most random clothes.

Edit: Also, GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you'll ace it!

Congratulations!! Thats really good news and i am happy for you both!🥳
I so hope I will have good news on Friday to share as well 😁
And Thank you ! Makes packing a lot easier, although i had sweatpants ruled out already anyway😂 did not know shorts were an option, but also think sometimes they are easier on men wearing shorts in certain situations were a woman should not? 🤔 ...? Or is that a thought I just grew up with? 😅 nevermind! I have a better idea now for what to wear. 😄

Ive decided to start driving tomorrow, it's a 6 or 7 hour drive for me so i wont be doing that at night. I'll stay in a hotel so I can have a nervous breakdown there, throw it all out, then a chill evening and semi good sleep and go there early morning With my eyes still crusty but my mind clear.... yes, sounds like a plan. 😆
I kid of course, thankfully my friend is going with me to offer mental support.
Did I tell yall yet that I'm nervous? 😅😅😆

Hi I was in Frankfurt as well  they asked for my fiancés recent W-2 and the IRS tax return  they didn’t need any bank statement, employment verification or any other tax documents. I think it’s good to have them but all they asked about are the mentioned above documents and the I-134, my birth certificate, my police certificate, and asked if I had a visa already and if it’s still valid. I believe that’s it 😄 it’s always good to have more but it’s really important to have what they request  good luck 🍀

Rosaly reacted to Yareth in K-1 Letter of intent to marry issue
Okay, so, the letter very clearly states what you need to do at the top of the Interview Preparation checklist: "On the day of the interview bring the documents listed below for each visa applicant."
They want you to gather all the listed documents and take them with you to the interview. There is no need to send anything to the embassy.

Now, be aware that the "Letter of intent to marry" is listed as "bring it if not already sent with the  original I-129f". So, only if you haven't sent it with your petition. To be on the safe side, you could bring new ones with you, just in case. Also note that they need to be signed ('wet signature'), so the USC needs to send an original to you via snail mail which they signed with a pen.

    Good luck!

And i was very impatient too 😂

I’ve been looking into everything for the last months, so I’m pretty familiar thankfully! Someone on here was kind enough to type out their exact experience with the medical, and dealing with the embassy! I was just confused with ‘department of state’ because I haven’t heard of it before in the process. But thankfully it’s just the NVC!

Rosaly reacted to MeghanK in Has anyone entered the US using ESTA while their K1 visa application was in process and gone through preclearance?
My husband used to visit the USA from Vancouver on ESTA about once a month without issue while his K1 was pending. Through both YVR pre-clearance and via land borders. Granted he was a perm resident in Canada at the time (Irish citizen/irish born) and only ever stayed 2-7 days at a time in the US.

I agree with other posters, might be safer to cut down a little  on how long you're staying. Also bring documentation for ties to home. My husband always had his on hand but was never asked for it.

To be fair, I'd say that is atypical for the US.  Each state is different.  If I were to order a certified copy of my BC, it would take 7-10 days.

I highly doubt any U.S. immigration official will get upset that a mistake was made in the city of birth of a U.S. citizen petitioner. It was not wilful misrepresentation and it is not material misrepresentation.

Also seconding what SalishSea said. A birth certificate taking months to arrive is not typical in the U.S.

When I ordered extra copies of marriage & birth certificates for my state, they all arrived within a week. Also, applying in person for a birth certificate can take as little as half an hour to get the certificate. So, for hopeful immigrants reading through this thread, please do not conclude months of waiting for a simple birth certificate is what you are by default doomed to experience.
I looked up Illinois's Dept of Vital Statistics website and it says requests by mail for certificates are taking 12 weeks for processing. No specific information on how fast VitalChek takes to process.

Just adding to this that Springfield and Decatur are about 40 minutes apart from each other. Decatur is a smaller city, so a lot of people who were from Decatur may just say Springfield as its the closest "big city" - I live about 80 miles away from Springfield so I'm definitely familiar with the area. Where is he living now? In Illinois you can just go to the courthouse or county health department and get a birth certificate immediately.

Alright, so that means that form, letter, whatever it was that needs to be taken to interview is packet 4, which I already learned is going to be an E-mail.  🤔

Here's hoping my mail gets delivered tomorrow or Tuesday. The list of what needs to be collected I already found.

I'm nervous and sad 🤣 I wanted that letter!!
    Thanks again for your information

I don't believe there was a specific letter that needed to be brought to the interview.
There was the letter explaining what needed to be brought/how to submit the ds-160 confirmation, a copy of the approved i-129f, and a form to fill out of all previous addresses from the age of 16.
And a domestic violence information pamphlet

Rosaly reacted to MalloryCat in Packet 3 - Frankfurt consulate in Germany
    that is the correct email
the frankfurt embassy has a google form they use that tells you what to put in the subject line of the email, so it gets to the right place
https://tinyurl.com/FrankfurtVisas (if you use this form, make sure you pick the option for immigrant visa. it does make a difference for what goes in the subject line and body of the email)   when my fiance emailed them about getting the information from the packet 3 letter just emailed to him, they told him to wait until he received the physical letter. But if you explain to them you believe it got lost in the mail, they might email it to you.   the DS-160 is good for a year after filling it out and submitting it. so you could technically fill it out and submit it now.
but I would try emailing them for the packet 3 info first before emailing them the DS-160 confirmation.
As my fiance likes to say, people in Germany like their paperwork, so they probably want things to go in order 🤣

you could try contacting the frankfurt embassy via email and explain the situation
they may be able to email you what the packet contained (which if i remember correctly was just a letter saying to complete/submit the ds-160, pay the visa fee, a previous address form to fill out, and a copy of the approved I-129f. it also had some instructions as far as what to bring to the interview.)
or they may ask you to wait another day or so to see if it will show up.
or you could try contacting whichever postal service was delivering it and see if it is something you can go pick up from one of their locations.

K-1 visa is confusing. It is non-immigrrant visa but at Embassies it is being processed by their Immigrant Visa division (IV) After interview, you will notice CEAC status will change to non-immgrant (black letters on top) and at that point you will be able to search for it by using AA number from your DS-160 on CEAC non-immigrant part.

Rosaly got a reaction from Cathi in Visiting fiance between filing DS160 and interview allowed?
    Hi,

    Yes this is allowed

Just be prepared for extra and serious scrutiny at the border. There will be a good chance you will be taken to one of those backrooms to be questioned.
If you already know your interview date at the time you want to enter the states, Have a copy of your interview confirmation with you.
When asked, inform them that after your trip you will return to home country to conclude the K visa Process.
Answer all questions truthfully and stay polite, no matter how they treat you.

Though this is all possible, and i have not found many stories where someone got denied entry and it mostly goes well, i would advise against it.
Most likely there wont be much time between the DS160 and the interview, so if you just wait a little longer, you could be with your fiancé permanently afterwards.
Personally, i canceled the trip i had planned in June and i will just wait for the visa to be in my possesion. I will also wait a couple months before i actually move, but i decided it is not worth the risk of getting put on a plane back to home country 😬

    Anyway, The choice is yours
