  1. Hey guys . I will gladly answer this one as I finally crossed the border 9 days ago and I am officially a permanent resident . YAY ! so there is a light at the end of the tunnel . In my particular case , I had read and researched to be at the port of entry 1-2 hours prior to what you would normally get there to ensure you sign and complete documents. but on my end it was smooth and quick . Personally they have asked me way more questions when I was visiting than when I actually moved. I left from YUL airport ( I was suggested to cross by Champlain since "CBP is normally less strict by car" , but I have no comment to validate or deny those claims ) , I had a very early flight at 6:00AM . I got to the airport at 3, customs did not open until 4:30 (I was really nervous about maybe missing the flight , if it took too long in customs ). I got to the officer's kiosk , he asked me where I was going . I handed my passport in the visa page and said I was moving today , she looked at it and took me to the back (secondary inspection). At that point I was a bit nervous because I did not know how long it would take , she handed my passport to another officer . After maybe 5-10 minutes , the other officer called me up , to validate my address and phone number in the US and was about my way. The whole thing took probably 15 minutes at most , I was expecting to spend hours there. I must say though , I probably had the earliest flight that morning and was probably the first immigrant immigrating , which is why my turnaround was probably as fast. But honestly , I was not asked a single question other than to validate my US ADRESS and US phone number. I was also expecting to fill out a form with all of my assets that I can move to the US with whiteout tax implications , even that they did not ask (not sure if they were supposed to) . Either or , it was a quick and easy process. Much quicker than I anticipated.
  2. Issued !!!!!! Thank you all for the direct or even indirect support as i went through this tediously long process. Honestly my hopes and expectations were set very very low , and i believe that is what probably helped me cope mentally. With so low expectations anything really was a surprise. a quick timeline for me march 2023 - DQ Oct 27 2023 -interview and given ds5535 Nov 1st - Submitted ds5535 form Nov 3rd - First case creation and update march 2024 - first update despite sending form months prior radio silence again July 30th - first unsolicited update(that i noticed) july 31st - Update 1st Wk August - a couple of updates August 8th - Request to send passport and medical August 9th - Took medical exam (was very lucky to find so soon) Aug 9th. - sent in passport and photos after medical appointment Aug 19th - Received confirmation from clinic that they sent medical to embassy Aug 21st - finally Shows the beautiful words Of “issued” . honestly when i read those words i began crying as this was a very stressful and emotional process for my partner and I. I want you guys to know though there is an end to the tunnel. And they seem to be processing them faster now , hoping that trend keeps going .
  3. Had an update today but case still says refused . From my understanding it will only show as “issued” once the visa and stamps have been done officially by consulate
  4. Yay . So this morning i received the infamous email as well as a case update which followed the Thursday pattern Good morning, To continue processing your immigrant visa please submit the following: - A new medical from our Panel physician (please bring a copy of this email to your medical appointment) - 2 recent passport size photos - Valid passport
  5. I use an application called Case Tracker . The app logo resembles a sideways american flag with an flying eagle silhouette in the middle.
  6. Hello guys . Its me again. So i have gotten another update again today. Hopefully it means that things are moving in the right direction. So ill give u guys a brief timeline July 23rd - case update unsolicited july 25th - wife and i sent a letter to consulate (dis not see the prior case update) July 30th - Case update (not sure if unsolicited since i sent an email) Aug 1st - Case update (not sure if unsolicited) typically they reply to emails within 2-3 weeks . So my feeling is that they are all unsolicited. But after being in this for a year almost i dont want to get my hopes up
  7. I use the case tracker app as well but it seems to be the exact same information from ceac , with no history and simply last update case. On the 25th of July my wife and I sent a email to the consulate , yesterday (31st) i went to check the app and my case last update date was showing as july 23rd with the app last refreshed on the 29th. I then refreshed the app and to my surprise the last case update date changes to July 30th . I am not sure if it is unsolicited or not since we sent an email on the 25th (didn't hear back though) . And again my case is simply showing the last case update date , so who knows , maybe i got a few more updates that i don’t know about. I will attach a screenshot
  8. Hello guys. Could someone please tell me which application or website you guys use to track your cases as i am only able to see “last update date” on the ceac website.
  9. Hey guys . After reading and not posting for the past 9 months i decided to share my situation. Interview was set for Oct 27th 23 -Provided Ds 5535 , CO said just fill it in it can take 3 weeks to 3 months depending - fill it in the next day or 2 . And submitted in that Wednesday (Nov 1st) -Got my first update status to refused on Nov 3rd 2023 - Radio Silent until April 11th ish 2024 in which they just responded to my email - Another update June 3rd Because they’ve responded to my email All in all, in 9 months ,i did not get one single unsolicited update. Whats frustrating is that during that time my wife has been experiencing a few medical problems which has required her to go to the hospital. Which now causes a really hard financial strain on her. Had to give up her car. Its quite enfuriating knowing they are taking their sweet times while people are actually experiencing real life problems caused by being apart from their spouse . We have now been married 3 years , dated for the better part of 5 , and still not able to simply be together because of this invisible barrier called DS5535. Sorry guys for the rant, i just wished this process was more efficient and seamless .
