  1. it is recommended to include a cover letter including the applicants name as well as the case number makes it easier for them to attach it to your case file.
  2. I wanna hope so But I'm more of a "expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when it works out" kinda person hahah 😂
  3. Well unexpected update Despite knowing for sure that we picked the wrong choice, my husband got a text from USCIS saying they received it And I have pending check withdrawals for tomorrow showing in my bank account So now I'm just worried this is somehow gonna come back and bite us in the butt later lol
  4. the letter from the employer isn't 100% needed. its just something extra to have. but it should state your title, whether you are full time/part time, your salary, and your start date. Ideally it would be on business stationary and signed. you can find a list of things to bring to the interview here https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Peru&cty=Lima
  5. we used the old version of the forms, that was the only reason. we actually had this question marked correctly on the old forms, but missed it on the new one lol even though the USCIS website said they would accept the old forms if they were post marked before february 10th
  6. we filled out a whole new I-485 and just reused our evidence as well. however we are expecting another rejection cause we did the same thing this time around and marked the wrong thing as well lol
  7. on your I-485 on page 5 part 2 section 3.a which option did you pick? cause it should have been the 4th one if you picked the first one, which is technically true, it is incorrect for USCIS. someone else got the same rejection and this was the reason
  8. NVC hasn't been accepting calls for a long time the only way to contact them really is with the public inquiry form
  9. technically you can fill out and submit the DS-160 whenever, it is valid for 1 year after submitting. just make sure you print out the confirmation page as you will need to bring it o the interview and (possibly) the medical exam. the letter that the beneficiary should be getting from the embassy (also called packet 3) should tell you how to do the DS-160, how and when to schedule the medical exam, how and when to schedule the interview, and what documents need to be brought to the interview. you could also try emailing the consulate to try and get that information. this is the email they have listed Canada.Visas@gdit-gss.com
  10. i know i preferred the old one lol thats why i was mad they returned it even though they were supposed to accept it if it was before feb. 10th 😂
  11. yes USCIS sends the approved petition to the NVC on a certain schedule doesn't matter what embassy it will eventually end up at.
  12. i found another difference between the old I-485 that i feel like leads to the confusion on the question from above. on the old form this is how the first few options look it specifically references form I-130 on the new one, it doesn't put the form number next to its relevant filing status. just at the beginning if it still did have the form number next to each, i bet there would have been far less of a chance that we all would have picked the wrong one. obviously nothing can be done about it now, but still
  13. even though we haven't heard anything yet i know for my own piece of mind we took out all the staples and reassembled it like it was new. so we knew for sure that all of the evidence and stuff was still there the chances of the same person looking at your packet twice are probably pretty slim and you could just annoy the next person if its not organized lol
  14. it is a very silly difference i'm sorry it happened to you but i hope it doesn't happen to us 😭
  15. hmm... interesting.. might be better to just wait and see could be one of those "depends on the person adjudicating it" things. maybe just fill out the forms again and have them printed and ready to go in case it does come back that is probably what we are going to do
  16. do you have a copy of your first filing? the one that was accepted but then the payment didn't work? I wonder if you selected "spouse of us citizen" on that one as well?
  17. even if your i-129f expires, the officer conducting the interview can extend the validity of the acceptance at the time of the interview, so don't stress too much about that. @Edward and Jaycel went through the manila embassy, they may have more insight on whether the welcome letter is needed.
  18. you don't send the whole package again. what you should send back (in this order): 1. Original RFIE (the letter you received) 2. a RFIE cover letter (including the petitioner's name, as well as the receipt number from your NOA1) stating what your response includes. this isn't mandatory but it is better to include as it has your receipt number on it and it will be easier for the person at USCIS to attach it to your case. 3. the requested response (this should be just the form they sent you)
  19. that just sounds like a system glitch
  20. i checked ours as well (thankfully the filled out form is saved on my computer) we also checked the "spouse of us citizen" box... guess we're gonna be expecting to have to refile again 😭
  21. ahh ok, so it'll probably show up in the mail in a few days. once you get that you'll know what they are expecting. which is probably something like proof of meeting within the 2 years or the letter of intent to marry. as for the finances, you have time to find a joint sponsor. unless the petitioner is able to get a full time job (again, i know that would be difficult in their situation) a joint sponsor may be the only choice they should be able to tell, US passport pages look different than other countries passport pages. you can also put the scanned image of the passport stamps in a word doc and write exactly what it is.
  22. when did you learn about the RFIE? you should wait until you receive that in the mail. so you know for sure what it is they are asking for... finances don't really come into play for the I-129f/K1 visa until the actual K-1 visa interview. which can be over a year after the original I-129f is submitted. not to be harsh but honestly the petitioner would be better off trying to find a better paying job. which i know is hard right now
  23. you would be better off getting a joint sponsor your fiance can't get a SSN until they have arrived in the US using their K1 visa. and an ITIN (if its even possible, im not sure that it is) could take longer than what the RFIE allows for. you don't know what the RFIE is for?
  24. ahh ok, above you said you hadn't paid yet. then it is greyed out so you don't accidentally pay the fee again. the $265 is all you had to pay for the visa. you are in the right place as far as scheduling the interview appointment. but there just aren't any slots available. you will just have to keep checking.
