  1. You might want to try submitting an expedite request through the USCIS online portal, especially if you're facing financial hardship. They may accept your request and prioritize getting your work permit to you within the next 2-3 weeks. Alternatively, you could reach out to your local congress representative for assistance. Wishing you the best of luck!
  2. Everything is pretty meaningless and random when the USCIS is concerned!
  3. All a waiting game unfortunately! As many continue to say, no news is good news once you have received your NOA. I am in the same boat, still waiting.....Keep your head up, each day is a day closer to this nonsense process being over!
  4. I would either Ask Emma via the online webchat, or contact the USCIS via telephone. The fact the USCIS has taken your money is a good sign that your package has been accepted.
  5. Sorry, just to clarify, the papers that I had filed were barcoded by the USCIS which means they had been reviewed in some capacity. You will most likely have to wait to receive the return of your package, sorry!
  6. Yet we were told the recent increase in filing fees would result in greater efficiencies, and faster processing times..........
  7. Roughly 5 working days. They had already coded, and scanned the paperwork into their system, so it was a case of the USCIS cashing the check and sending a receipt.
  8. My initial package was rejected due to Capital One believing USCIS request for payment was fraudulent. It took approx. 8 weeks for Chicago lockbox to return my package. Once received, I returned the package (UPS overnight delivery) using checks as opposed to credit card for payment method. I received my work permit two weeks later in the mail. Still waiting for my i-485 to be adjudicated on. Frustrating that I had to wait 8 weeks, however re-submitting application my push you further down the line, or cause confusion with USCIS who will assume you have two active applications.
  9. I was really lucky. Already having my social security number may have sped up the process. I have seen via this forum that some who filed in March 2024 have received their green cards. However, there is certainly no rhyme or rhythm to the process as each case is certainly different. Best of luck to all!
  10. I received my work permit card on 08/07/24. USCIS still actively reviewing my I-485 application.....no firm date or timescale on when it will be approved. Hope that you receive some positive news soon.
  11. Congratulations that's awesome! The update here has been really helpful, and at least gives the rest of us hope 😊. God bless and all the best with your new life in the States!
  12. For sure, I totally understand that I may have been one of the lucky ones. Hoping everybody else will have the same kind of luck 🙂
  13. Completed my biometrics today using downloads from my USICS account with no problems.
  14. You’re most welcome 😊. Following the advice on this forum, I reached out to 'Ask Emma Live Chat' to get my access code. It took me about six attempts with different agents, but I finally found a really helpful one who provided the code. After that, I was able to ask for the date, location, and time of my biometrics appointment, which they gave me. The access code lets you track your filings online, and the USCIS will also add your NOA to your account. You might also be able to reschedule your biometrics appointment for an earlier date from your account. Additionally, your biometrics appointment letter will be updated in your account by the USCIS. I’m still waiting for the same notices to arrive by mail, but that's just a formality since the exact same paperwork is now available in my online account. Hope this helps everyone in some way 😊.
  15. Yes, I used UPS signed for once again when re-filing. I went through the package once again to check everything was there (as USCIS had muddled and barcoded the papers). Only difference this time was that I included x2 checks for the i485 and i765 applications, and placed the green cover sheet (included when my package was returned). Guessing the green sheet helps identify the USCIS staff to fact the package had already been scanned and barcoded etc. 2 days after delivery, I received confirmation that the checks had been cashed and receipt notice had been sent in the post.
  16. My filing, delivery and lockbox location were same as yours. My checks have just been cashed having returned my failed package to the USCIS. Currently waiting to receive receipt notice in post, and advance from there. Best of luck to all on this very long journey 🙂
  17. Thank you for the information here. Earlier today I contacted Ask Emma to obtain my access code. The agent claimed that they were unable to provide me with my access code, and I would have to wait 7 days for another agent to provide this information. Do you think it is worthwhile me phoning the USCIS to obtain access code? Also, do you know whether it is possible to bring my biometrics date forward? I have just been offered a job, and don't want to lose the opportunity so keen to do everything in my control to obtain the EAD ASAP.
  18. Update: Received a text message from the USCIS today confirming receipt of my I-765 application (filed concurrently with my I-485). Just waiting on the receipt notice in the post which will contain my access code. Checks are yet to have been cashed. Hope that those waiting too also receive positive news within the coming days 🙂
  19. Sadly I missed this part within the various forums. Hopefully I will not take the USCIS another 8 weeks to process once I return the package tomorrow.
  20. Update: I have just received my returned package in the post. My I-485 and I-765 applications were rejected due to Capital One declining the payment from Chicago Lockbox (Capital One believed that payment was fraudulent). Apparently such instances are commonplace. Re-filing with a check for both applications enclosed. To avoid the same thing happening to others, always where possible pay with a check. Good luck to you all, will continue to provide updates!
  21. Congratulations! That is fantastic news. Hopefully you are not having to wait an age for your biometrics appointment,, and the rest of your journey is pretty smooth. Thanks for giving the rest of us some hope too 😊
  22. Thank you so much for the support. I sent my package from NYC using UPS with signature confirmation, and it was signed for and received by USCIS on April 18, 2024. After not hearing anything from USCIS, I reached out to my local congresswoman for help in submitting an inquiry. USCIS confirmed they had received my filings and provided two receipt numbers. Unfortunately, neither of these numbers is working. I contacted USCIS again, and they claimed they couldn't find a record of either receipt number in their system. Additionally, the payment for the filing has not been deducted from my credit card. If my case has been rejected for any reason, I hope the package is returned quickly so I can address any issues. An agent has scheduled a Tier 2 officer to contact me within the next 72 hours. For now, all I can do is wait and try to carry on with my life as best as I can.
  23. I filed at the following address which is stated on the USCIS website when sending with UPS and other couriers: USCIS Attn: AOS (Box 805887) 131 S. Dearborn St., 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517
