  1. Did you husband get his visa? sheesh after a long wait, the consulate will make people stuck for a long time. I saw your timeline and seems like you guys got put in some admin processing for quite a while. so just curious if you guys got through.
  2. Thank you. Edit from my post. Last time I went there was April 2024, not 2023.
  3. Hi both, I got my I130 approved in July. I also got DQ by NVC. waiting for interview letter from Mumbai consulate. To answer Redro's question: I have seen my spouse three times after our marriage. I went there for 11 days each (three times) within one year of the marriage (approximately) after our marriage - the trips were spread out. Yes, I got married on the first visit. we started talking over the phone and video calls 6 months before marriage though. Last time I saw my spouse in April 2023 USCIS I130 is approved with no RFE not a big age gap arrange marriage and one of a known relative within the family introduced our families. The thing is that we Arya Samaj Wedding and we only had 17 people present in our wedding - her family and my family. We did the religious ritual of walking around fire. We then legally registered our marriage in India. I saw a lot of posts about H4 visa, L2 visa being denied because consular officer is thinking that Arya samaj wedding is not a real wedding. I am just so nervous about this with my spouse. We have been waiting to get this over with and be with each other and we are already separated for 15 months (we have yet to receive our interview letter).
  4. Hi, I am consular process with PD June 2023 (I130). It is getting close to 14 months and I still haven't received an approval on my petition. I chatted with Emma and the agent told me the recent update is 'task ownership changed' and my timeline is fluctuating. it went from 4 months to 11 months to 12 months in just 3 days - this is wild. anyone knows what 'task ownership changed' by uscis means?
  5. US citizen filed for Indian spouse. had arya samaj wedding (small wedding) then registered marriage with the gov't and got the certificate. now reading stuff online that US consulates looking at this suspiciously. like #######. https://www.njimmigrationattorney.com/blog/2020/09/marriage-visa-based-on-arya-samaj-wedding/ https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/AILA/AILA-Agenda-Fall-2019.pdf anyone done this and faced issues? thoughts? everyone was done according to rituals but wedding was small. freaking out here.
  6. Hi InaneTripe, I am filing MFS and I will sending my tax documents to IRS in the mail (I couldn't find a single website who can do efile with 'NRA' as input for wife's SSN/ITIN). I used a tax preparer for this year. My question: Did your paper mail got processed on time and you were able to get your tax transcript in about 6-8 weeks? after filing it? This is making me nervous because IRS can have a backlog and not process the damn tax forms for like months and I would need my tax transcript for year 2023 for the affidavit of support of my wife. So if you can share your experience on how long did it take for you to get your paper mail tax return processing would take a lot of anxiety away for me. My refund can come in late summer and I don't care. I just want my tax transcript available by end of April/mid-may.
  7. Thank you, I appreciate your response! Ok, so two of my friends who went through this process said they did it single...and it did not cause any problems at the embassy stage of things. lol I am super confused now. Part of me just want to do it single and once she comes here, I do it MFJ.
  8. Pardon me if this has already been asked. I am super super confused. I130 petition pending next steps are NVC and embassy interview married in 2023, wifey is in India. I have been filing single ever since. Last year I filed single for year 2022 return. Now, I called 4 different tax services (local to my area). all of them said file it single since wifey is not in the US and don't have a ssn. I read the IRS webpage and they are saying to file it married either separate or jointly. Are these tax services trolling or just don't know what's up?? If you have been in my shoes, I would really appreciate if you say what you did when you were filing this for the very first time. Also, when wifey is here is it just a matter of switching from MFS to MFJ on the form (next year of course). Thank you all!
