Quitting your job is usually not recommended when you're filing for K1, they want to see that you still have ties back home etc. ESPECIALLY with a visitor visa. Edit: This all depends on when. If you file K1 while still at that job, then it might not matter if you do have another job at the interview.

I have my number, so as long as I don’t need my actual card for things, I should be good. I noted I would like a new card on the forms, so I guess it’s a waiting game until those get approved

Hi y'all!! Okay, here's my situation. I applied for my SSN 2 weeks after coming to the US. Nov 16th I think. I never got the card in the mail. I have my SSN, but not the card. We had an appointment to see what was going on, but we didn't bring all my stuff like birth certificate etc, so she couldn't do anything but give me my number. Ok, that's something right? (There was a lot of time between applying and this appointment because there was a 3!!! week wait for appointments and then I obviously made one on the day they closed for the death of president Carter....) Now, my K1 expires jan 30th. 2 days. I called to see what they exactly needed to issue a new card. She said because my I-94 expires within 15 days, they can not issue me anything until I can provide anything about my currrent status. I'm GUESSING that a receipt of filed 485 would be enough, but she couldn't give me a clear answer on that. I don't have my receipt yet, so I can't do anything yet. But this whole thing is just vague.. Does anyone know what exactly I need, or if I even can do anything until I get my I-765 approved? I'm honestly clueless and feel defeated lol

I'm not sure exactly if every consulate does the same thing, but mine did, I had to leave my passport with them after I got approved for the K1 visa, and I didn't get it back until a week+ later. Just incase you were considering traveling right after the interview!

It can be a reason they deny it, yes. It doesn’t have to be, but it definitely can. If you can, before the interview, I would meet up again. Even if it’s for a week
