I interpreted that as, if able to visit the U.S. with Canadian passport as a tourist/visitor or visitor-temporary work visa, could 221(g) refusal with DS-5535 be given at time of interview (implication being that B1 or B2 visa precludes being issued the DS-5535)

Someone was asked for passport, even though the consulate kept at interview, so mistakes are made Email the Consulate using the same email that received the passport request to point out details for the RCMP cert you sent them recently, and hopefully they’ll locate it. Good luck!

The proximity to the 2 year mark is a strong possibility for requesting a new one. I considered that as well. Just give them whatever they request and don’t sweat it Having said that, there’s discrepancies also. We received two emails for passport, etc. Neither requested the 2 passport pictures, but they were mentioned on a response given to a Congressional inquiry from the Consulate itself two days later 🤷‍♀️

Quite frankly, it’s quite puzzling. Did your “happy email” come from the Yatri “support system” (donotreply@usvisa-info.com), OR the Consulate?

Lol 😂 Much confusion. Might be prudent to send the Montréal Consulate an email to confirm if an oversight on their part. Another person here on VisaJourney posted they were requested to send in the passport which the Consulate had kept at the interview! Someone else on this forum received the proceed notification email (request for passport, etc) from the Consulate directly, not the Yatri support system Consider this: Neither email (received two/ read below) we received from the “Yatri” support system requested the 2 Passport pics; however, the Consulate itself replied to a Congressional Inquiry two days after we received the support system email asking for the requirements to proceed, and that response DID mention the 2 passport pics (along with passport, updated medical, and RCMP Cert) We also received two separate “Yatri” emails (one did not contain the link to arrange for courier delivery), so errors are common. It seems to me the communication lines between the “support system” generating these approval/documents request emails and the Consulate can be flawed
