  1. Log in to your CEAC/NVC account and take a look. “Re-Opened” in red letters on the lower right hand side is what you’re looking for
  2. Hacking Law Firm. It’s an immigration law firm specializing in WOM filings
  3. The DS-260 immigrant visa application expires one year after signature. If a case is delayed due to AP/DS-5535, just prior to clearing, the status will change from “Refused” to “Expiring Soon”, and NVC or the Consulate will re-open the DS-260 (see below) Our interview took place on July 21, 2023. The DS-260 was submitted/signed in October 2022 I logged in upon receiving an unsolicited update on August 1 and updated the DS-260 a couple of days after. Received the email requesting passport, etc on August 8 The DS-260 immigrant visa application expires one year after signature. 4. Not only approved, but IV stamped passport on the way already! Aware of a case that interviewed this past January (2024) which went into AP with DS-5535. Consulate received his documents on Sept 5, went to Issued status two days ago and today received tracking number for passport. It’s beyond infuriating!!! It makes no sense to be angry at him; I’m merely incensed with the Consulate 🤬
  5. No pattern WHATSOEVER. No rhyme or reason. No consistency. Nothing that makes sense. At three weeks since Consulate’s receipt of my husband’s passport, I plan to (again) get our Congressperson involved. Need be proactive!
  6. No .. it’s the DS-260 that needs updating. Completing that DS-5535 once was plenty 😂
  7. You are correct. This is NOT applicable to consular pending cases, only for cases where applicant is already physically in the U.S. and applying for Change of Status, for instance. The Panel Physicians vs. Civil Surgeons distinction is accurate. Medical exams expire after 6 months
  8. It’s all over the place. Some waiting close to a month now, while someone was just updated to Issued status merely 12 days after receipt of passport. Continues to be inconsistent and unpredictable, as with everything concerning this Consulate.
  9. Take a look at the Congressperson’s website for procedure. Mine had an online contact option which I completed. I then received an email attaching a privacy release/information form to complete/sign/return. Note that not all Congresspersons are willing to do Congressional Inquiries. Good luck!
  10. As if we haven’t been waiting long enough 🙄 This makes my blood boil!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  11. Wait a minute, since April after clearing AP and sending fresh medicals, or April interview and approved at that time?
  12. 😑 It’s truly mind boggling. Almost a month without even a single update. Good move having your Congressperson rattle their cage. This is unconscionable!!! I’m at a loss to understand how the procedure is structured/protocol for cases going to Issued from Refused after sending in medical, etc. A case in AP since only this past January received “Issued” status today after medical and passport received at the Consulate on Sept 5 .. Just 12 days 🤬!!!!! 😑 It’s truly mind boggling. Almost a month without even a single update. Good move having your Congressperson rattle their cage. This is unconscionable!!! 13. There’s simply no consistency. Sometimes those within seconds auto replies show up, other times they do not, per my experience. Email again. Can’t hurt!
  14. Can’t just show up; you’ll be turned away. I learned others were able to deliver passport early in the day for stamping and picked it up that afternoon, but with prior approval. Apparently they put a stop to that. I tried to arrange it via email request. It was a frustrating exercise in futility. Don’t waste time and effort.
  15. I did also. Via email. Twice. They ignored the first one and replied after a week but did not address the question directly at all.
  16. I hope you do also. Just heard of a case given “Issued” status this morning 2 weeks and 4 days in after Consulate received passport. Keeping fingers crossed for all waiting I doubt it
  17. How long ago since the Consulate received your passport, etc? Depending on what day next month the trip is booked for, it’s possible you may not have it in hand in time. Seems the Consulate has slowed down considerably with processing. I know of at least three cases just recently cleared from AP who have been waiting 3 weeks. In our case, on Sept 4 the medical was received, with the passport/RCMP/pics which we sent received by the Consulate on Sept 9. Our status remains refused with a Sept 4 date
