Thank you! Will do First, to answer your question. Five cases that I know of, our own included, moved to Issued status yesterday I am disheartened to learn your case has not moved forward already, but I can assure you, it will Our email for passport, etc request also arrived on August 8. Two updates with Refused status (Sept 13 and 24) before the Issued status update on Sept 27

Not my intention to be rude, yet I must point out this has been explained by me as well as others previously on this thread. You will not, I repeat, WILL NOT, be “hearing from the Consulate” with a request for, or providing instructions about updating your IV application. You would log in to your CEAC website account. If under “IV Application” on the lower right hand side the words “Re-opened” in red letters appear, you may/can tap on them to update whatever information has changed. In our case, only the travel section required it. IT RE-OPENED FOR THE SIMPLE REASON IT REQUIRES UPDATING AND YOU’RE BEING REQUESTED TO DO SO. If you don’t see those words in red letters the IV application is NOT available to you for updating Once completed/signed it will indicate “Completed” in the area where the “Re-opened” words appeared in red I have a suggestion for you at this point. Read carefully through this thread

100% Correct .. consulate is all over the place! Unstructured and unpredictable! With that said, adding my husband’s case to the seemingly substantial number of cases that moved to ISSUED yesterday, September 27. 434 days in AP/DS-5535 from interview on July 21, 2023. Consulate received medical on September 4, and the remainder (passport/RCMP Cert/passport pics) on September 9. Looking forward to seeing that passport return tracking number soon. I’ll update as we move forward 😃

Not silly at all. Log on to your CEAC account. On the top left hand side look for this language “Summary Information One or more Immigrant Visa (IV) Application(s) (form DS-260) on your case have been reopened because updates are required. Please update the DS-260(s) as directed and re-submit the form(s). If you have any questions, please contact your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate General. Information for U.S. Embassies and Consulates can be found at https://www.usembassy.gov/ On the bottom right hand side you’ll see the words “Re-opened” in red letters

Thanks. Waiting for our case to proceed to Issued now. Interviewed July, 2023. DS-5535 required. In AP just over a year. Requested passport/new medical/RCMP cert on August 8. Consulate received medical first, then rest on September 9. Have seen two (Sept 13 and 24) updates, but case remains in Refused status. Unless the pace picks-up at the Consulate there may potentially be a wait of 4-5 weeks total until the status moves to Issued, with a possible additional 10 business days wait for the tracking number email. It’s a waiting game at every turn.

100%. Zero consistency or anything resembling a pattern for case handling. Obviously, the Consulate is swamped clearing cases out of AP and all that entails, along with processing cases interviewing on an ongoing basis: I’m mentally prepared (while hoping to be mistaken) for the process to drag on into mid-October for us, with any luck

I communicated directly with a couple of folks on this site just within the past few months who told me they were successful in arranging (email exchanges) with the Consulate delivery of passport in person for visa stamping, and picked up later on the same day. A couple of fluke instances through Consulate staff error, it would seem. Nonetheless (unless I was told a made up story, and I don’t see a motive for that), it did occur most recently

This process is so unfair. A good amount of cases that interviewed early this year under our same (refused/DS-5535) circumstances are being requested passport. I know of one who interviewed in January, 2024 and was practically “fast tracked”. Received his IV stamped passport today 🤬 My husband interviewed on July 21, 2023. Two Congressional inquiries (first at six months the other at nine months), were not effective. Saw an unsolicited update on August 1, so I logged in to CEAC/NVC website and saw the Aug 1 update with the phrase “expiring soon”, and a notation on the lower right hand area in red letters that indicated “Re-opened”. I updated the DS-260 a few days later, and on August 8 received email for passport, etc At this point waiting for case status to update from “refused” to “issued”. The Consulate received the updated medical on August 28 and the passport, etc. on September 9. The last update was on September 13 but still in “refused” status. Will be reaching out to Congressperson very soon if no movement

I attempted to arrange to have passport dropped off for stamping/pick-up same day. They ignored my email (I’m the Petitioner/US Citizen). Afterwards had my husband ask coming from his email. Emailed them twice. Finally, after two weeks received generic reply which did not, AT ALL, provide an answer to our question/request. We took that as a resounding NO 😂 It was the case for us. You should see “Re-opened” on lower right hand side in red letters. You need to update it ASAP (any changes, travel, etc) The EXPIRING SOON update is a good sign. We received the email requesting passport, etc shortly after getting that same status change
