Hi everyone, My husband also received finally Montreal consulate email reply asking my husband to submit his passport and new medical (IR5), we both had interview in Jan 2024, my AP was cleared before his AP clearance and I got my visa issued on Jan 8, 2025. He was waiting and he sent an email to consulate asking his status update and in reply consulate asked him for passport and new medical. He did not receive email from "donotreply@DOS " which we all received. When we tried to book his medical exam, the doctor clinic telling us that on portal they don't have his file yet from consulate. Did anyone has the similar experience. If he did not receive email from "donotreply" but from consulate, I hope it is still legitimate email. Please share your experience.

I gave landing by road at Roseville Montana boarder which is closest to Alberta, Canada. It took me 45 minutes, and the border agents were very nice. They just asked few question regarding when I will be moving permanently, etc. I came back to Canada on the same day. Just thought to share my experience in case if someone (living in Alberta) want to give landing and activate his Visa from Alberta to Montana.

Can someone share their experience regarding driver license after moving to the US, does US replace Canadian Driving License with the US driving license or do we have to get a new one? Is this rule different from state to state or every state can switch Canadian driving license with the USA one.

Congratulations! I am also thinking to activate my visa by road but then come back to Canada on the same day. Can you please share what kind of basic questions were asked and would they create any trouble if I declare that I will be returning to Canada on the same day? please you and anyone else share your experience. Thanks!

No, it is not true. As per cross boarder accountant, there is no tax by CRA on your primary residence even after the activation of US Green Card as long as you are permanent residence in Canada too at the time of closing home deal. If I activate my Visa and come back to Canada and while I am living here it is my primary residence. So no tax by CRA. But CRA holds 25% of home sale total value in law trust for the year when you sell the home and declare it that you will be moving permanently there. This for few months before they assure that we have no unpaid taxes then hey release this 25% taxes as well.

I just got my passport in hand today, thank God (Alhumdollilah). This whole process took exactly 2 years and 6 months 7 days, starting from first application to passport in hand. From visa, it is written that AP clearance received on Oct 2, 2024. But I did not get any sealed packet because they send a welcome letter and it is written that "your immigration supporting document is entirely electronic now". But it is also written that the landing fees has to pay before giving landing online. What does this mean, can I pay fee online anytime or on day when I am giving landing in person? Does anyone have any experience about it.

One more question, if I give landing by road to nearest boarder, then can I come back to Canada on the same day. Actually, my home is on sale, and my plan is to move permanently as soon as home is sold. But I want to give landing and activate my green card visa as soon as I get my passport back. Does anyone have the same experience. Is landing by road (boarder officer) any difficult compared to by air?

Thanks, for sharing the info. what is process for applying SSN#? At the government website, it is mentioned that "If you requested an SSN card as part of your visa application, U.S. Department of State (DoS), the electronic Form DS 260, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will share with us the information needed to issue you an SSN card. Therefore, you do not need to fill out a special application or go to a Social Security office to get an SSN." And we requested it in our DS 260 form, so does it mean after we give landing, it will be mailed to us without going to SSN office? Did your parents got their SSN like this? However, my US adress is changed compared to what I mentioned in DS 260 form, so if I give during my landing the new address would they change it at the boarder so I get SSN card at my new address? I gave my new address to the doctor office while doing my second medical and they said they will send the consulate new address. SO may be address change is already done, but consulate never asked me to open the DS 260 form and change the address.

My visa is Issued today. The passport was delivered on Nov 27 and medical was delivered on Dec 3, I had case updates on both these dates and also unsolicited updates on Dec 9 & 10. Finally, it is issued today. Can anyone tell that when we receive the email including the passport tracking #, I mean after how many days after the visa is issued.

My passport delivered to Montreal Consulate on Nov 27 and Medical on Dec 2, both times had case updates and 2 unsolicited updates on Dec 9 & 10 but then silent after that. Then my congressman contacted them on Dec 22, and consulate replied that passport not delivered to them as all mail goes to offsite facility and may take several days. Although UPS notification showed that passport was delivered on Nov 27.

We contacted senator office, and they sent the email to consulate and today consulate replied that they have not received my passport and photos yet because all mail goes to offsite facility which takes additional time to reach visa unit. It is so surprising that their process of getting passport from offsite facility to visa unit is so slow. As UPS notified that Steve received my passport at off sight facility of consulate on Nov 27. It is almost 3 weeks after that, I am still waiting for my visa to be issued.
