@MAHALisMAHAL Thanks for your responses.
It’s been nearly two years since our adoption, so I’m revisiting this topic and came across the responses you shared with me. Thank you so much for all your help—your answers clarified a lot of my questions.
I had initially thought there might be a special visa required after we received our interview date. When I reached out to my local U.S. embassy, they said they couldn’t specify the visa type for me, which left me feeling a bit stuck. But now that I know he can enter with a B1/B2 visa, I’ll make sure to apply for that first.
Regarding the requirement to show that your child had been living with you since you filed, did they offer any suggestions on what would serve as good proof? My son is homeschooled, so if they ask for evidence, I’m not entirely sure what to provide beyond photos, letters from a private tutor, or perhaps documents from his soccer program.
I also have a few more questions about the B1/B2 visa, and I hope you or someone else here might be able to help:
My son has three passports altogether—one from his birth country and two from other countries. Does it matter which passport we use to obtain the visa?
Have you traveled to the U.S. with your child using the B1/B2 visa? Did U.S. immigration ask any questions or have any concerns about your child entering with a visa while you’re a citizen?
Can we file the N-600K and, while waiting to be called for the interview, still visit the U.S. on a B1/B2 visa?
Thank you again! Your responses, along with others here, have been so helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences on the forum. I also plan to share our journey here to help others in similar situations. 🙏
