  1. Honestly I am surprised that the Muslim community used to vote mainly democrat in the US. You would say that hardcore Muslims would rather see a conservative president.
  2. It's huge. People are afraid or too annoyed to publicly state they are Trump supporters. Either their handful of liberal neighbors will torment them, or some ** that works for the city drives by and notes your address in the category 'property tax up next year because Trump supporter'. Also, people are sick and tired of having to get into heated discussions with people and are frustrated trying to explain why the country is turning into communist China. So they don't say much. The town I live in is red, the whole county is red. Everyone keeps quiet because the hatred from the hardcore democrats is real and people don't have the patience to deal with it anymore. I posted in a group for my county that I just moved here and was looking for people who would like to go on hikes and knew a good denominational Bible group. I got a private message from one of the dems living here, trying to get me to her church: It's funny how they automatically think immigrants are liberals. I replied that I might be scarier than her neighbors and that I loved this place and LOVE Trump. And she had just sent a friend request that I accepted so you can imagine she is still thinking about how she can get rid of me in a polite manner, HAHAHA. But that is how dems think about their conservative neighbors which is why the scared majority won't speak up other than casting their ballot on November 5th. Interesting though was Virginia. First day of early voting the republican turnout was huge, the democrat less than half that. That is an interesting sign, because usually it's the dems who vote early en masse.
  3. He already had MI in the bag. But this will make it even harder to cheat! What is more interesting is what this will do for NY, NY has a muslim population 3x bigger than MI and she was already doing terrible there. I think NY might flip red. And if NY goes, many others go with it.
  4. I just got a reply from one of my mini pensions at Nationale Nederlanden, and since 2019 it is not possible to cash in your small pensions anymore. It will be once you turn 67 and 3 moths (or 83 and 200 months by the time we're there....) so all you can do is leave it and wait for the belastingdienst to annoy you. I didn't build much either, only 1700 bucks a year I believe because I cashed in the rest before 2019 so whatever 'aanslag' I am gonna get can't be that high. I did log in and made sure they had my new address and that my husband was added as my partner. It's not much and I doubt there will be any money left by the time I reach my Dutch retirement age, but I did pay for it and if something were to happen to me, at least my husband would get a percentage. I will send you a message for the shipping!
  5. I contacted the companies where I have some retirement to ask for options. Looks like it might still be possible. If I don't get in trouble with the 'conserverende aanslag' I will definitely have them cashed. Thanks!
  6. You never got the 'conserverende aanslag'? When did you move? Cashing in retirements is not allowed anymore, or do they still do that when you move away?
  7. The Belastingdienst will send you a "conserverende aanslag" that you do not have to pay for the first 10 years as long as you abide by the Dutch tax rules. Here is some more information: https://www.belastingdienst.nl/wps/wcm/connect/bldcontentnl/belastingdienst/prive/internationaal/internationale-belastingregels/conserverende-aanslag-bij-emigratie/ https://www.jongbloed-fiscaaljuristen.nl/emigratie/actueel_emigratie/conserverende_aanslagen/ https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conserverende_aanslag https://www.belastingdienst.nl/bibliotheek/handboeken/html/boeken/FISIN2019/fiscale_informatie_2019-te_conserveren_inkomen.html So I have not seen anything yet, but from what I gather you file your takes for 2024 (or 2025 maybe in your case, not sure when you leave?) as someone who moved abroad during the year and somewhere a few months or even years later you get the 'aanslag' that you do not have to pay as long as you abide by the rules. I guess I'll see, my pension is not very great since I cashed out a bunch a few years ago when that was still allowed. Maybe someone who moved a while ago can give more information on what they got, I'm following. Your AOW will be lowered as well depending on your age and your work history. They look at the 50 years before your AOW age and you build up 2% a year, so in my case they started at 17 and so 3 months and I worked every year full time since then until my date of departure so I built up 25% AOW. Congrats on the VISA! Was not as scary as you thought, was it? Or was Frankfurt not as great as Amsterdam maybe? If you want to bring a lot of stuff with you (I highly recommend to bring as much as you can, it will make you feel at home!), then let me know. I shipped 3 pallets for under 1500 euros back in April.
  8. My husband filed for the I129F petition when we were both still living in The Netherlands. He left a month after filing to get settled after living in The Netherlands for 9 years and so we were apart until I got my Visa and was ready to move everything to the USA, about 18 months later. We also thought the K1 route would be quicker. Looking back I would have chosen the spousal route instead because it probably wouldn't have taken that much more time all together and I would have avoided the AOS stress. In my case it's not a big deal to wait because I do not need to work, travel or drive and I saw AOS is going pretty quick here overall in Michigan, but I would not go K1 again if I had to do it all over. Mostly because it becomes like you're here temporary because you can't actually take part in everything yet. BUT to answer your question in case you do want to go the K1 route (and there is really nothing wrong with it), my then fiancé put his father's residence up as his mailing address in the US and I put my parent's address as my mailing address. Just because those two addresses were going to be safe. So if you have family you could use for your mailing address, that's an option.
  9. Oh I already have all that. I was just wondering if I could still get notifications in case of RFE etc. Now I just log into USCIS regularly to check.
  10. In Amsterdam back in January it was listed as required, the the I-134 and the supporting documents. They asked for it and they kept the copies for my file. So no, not for filing the I-129F, but I would definitely bring all that for the interview, including the form for a joint sponsor if you need one.
  11. Well then it is up to a judge to figure it out. Problem is though, is there an unbiased judge left?
  12. I did, I requested my SS# on my I-485. I entered the US in April, got married in June and filed for AOS on July 3rd, My I-94 expired on July 6th I believe. So not sure how long it is going to take but I am in a position where I do not need it right away so I don't mind waiting. The whole 'hurry up and get your SS# before marriage and then apply for a new one in your married name' looked like too much of a hassle for me so I decided to do it this way.
  13. And they should. If it is illegal to pay for 1 vote, how would it not be illegal to pay (by proxy) for multiple votes? When the law was written, there were no influencers, there was no internet. Combine 597 with 594 and I bet a good lawyer can make a case or at the very least the law should be amended to include this modern way of coercion (which it is given the shaming towards certain voters and the average IQ of the people on the internet following complete strangers on the internet for advice) to make it clear for the ones in the back smokin' crack that this is illegal. So although it does not specifically say "thou shalt not pay an internet influencer to spread dis- and misinformation to shame people into voting a certain way", I believe chapter 29 of title 18 gives a path to prosecute with the language therein or AT LEAST trigger regulation. @Pooky I would agree it should fall under a different statute but unfortunately there is no regulation (yet) on a federal level for this: "Currently, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) does not regulate political advertising online in the same way the agency requires sponsorship disclosures for political advertising on traditional mediums, especially on television." https://citapdigitalpolitics.com/?page_id=44 Which is why I believe they need to go after them with what they DO have written in law right now, albeit not updated. This BS needs to stop.
  14. Actually it's worse in this case. They are not paying one person to alter their vote, they are paying a person to influence many votes.
  15. This is illegal and someone should finally be held accountable. Title 18: §597. Expenditures to influence voting Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate; and Whoever solicits, accepts, or receives any such expenditure in consideration of his vote or the withholding of his vote— Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 721; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, §330016(1)(H), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2147; Pub. L. 104–294, title VI, §601(a)(12), Oct. 11, 1996, 110 Stat. 3498.)
  16. Dan Bongino is right a lot. I have seen most of his coverage on the assassination attempt. He still has friends inside the USSS as well, he knows more than he is saying most of the time. I believe Trump might hire him in some capacity in his new cabinet. My bet is that they will try to spin that he is an independent or even a conservative, but that the internet will do its job in 3 minutes and debunk it. We'll see!
  17. No, any type of evidence that shows you have a real relationship is safe to bring. At the embassy they will go through it and pick out that which they need and give you the rest back. I had a 3 inch thick package with me because I rather take too much than too little. The lady just smiled and said I was a bit 'overprepared'. The more you bring and show them, even if they don't keep it all, the more you will convince the officer of your relationship before any questions are even asked. I had so much evidence that the only questions I was asked were "Where do you guys plan to get married" and "What type of business does your fiancé have (as we put in self employed) and asked what my plans were as soon as I could work. So take everything you see is evidence of your relationship. I do have to say that my evidence was that my now husband and I lived in The Netherlands for over 9 years so I realize that is different. But doesn't change the fact that you should bring it all. The only thing I decided not to bring was text messages as I think that is too personal and the rest of the evidence was strong enough.
  18. That's true, but I'm living on the edge! Haha
  19. Yes, that is probably why they have to make him the bad guy again with this Laure Loomer BS. Looks like they are out of offence strategies if they fall back to the 'Trump the adulterer' tactics again. What a circus, can't wait for 11/5.
  20. Yeah, when it was free it was definitely a no-brainer. I flew April 8th and I honestly considered flying sooner to avoid the higher fees. But the ticket got more expensive + the hassle, I just decided to get the GC only and leave the rest be. Fortunately I can, I know many others can't. 6-9 months is a long time. I think for this amount of money you should receive that within 2 months. In fact, I think the AP should always be free or have a tiny administrative fee of $10 and it should approved within 2 months. That should be your 'reward' for filing your paperwork and doing things the right way. If you think you have a straight forward case and don't see a lot of problems ahead of you, or if you don't need to travel, I would honestly save the $$. But if you expect that your GC might take a while because of whatever circumstances and it's important for you to be able to travel at least as soon as possible, then go for it. I think that decision is different for everyone.
