I-130 approved but I-824 required
Moda25 replied to Xavier_'s topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Wow I didn’t know this could be a problem. I’m even surprised they didn’t choose one for you based on your resident address. When I did my husband’s I-130, I chose a consulate in our home country where we were both born but the NVC picked a consulate in his country of residence for his interview which made the process even faster as his country of resident had no backlogs. -
I don’t know if things have changed since I did mine but the interview as I know is mostly about the civil questions and once you pass you’re good to go. When I did mine, I was asked if I wanted to take the oath the same day and I said yes so I waited and did it the same day. She should remember to go with her green card.

USCIS not accepting Expedite Request
Moda25 replied to Sander1234's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
@Gary RichYou mean your friend’s husband got approved for expedite at USCIS and went through NVC and consular processing all within 10 days? I am finding it difficult to believe this. -
I used to get called when I was a green card holder and I would always write them back that I’m not a citizen. However, I’ve been a citizen for 8 years and have never been called and I’ve never changed states. I wish it remains so though lol.

New I130 or CRBA for new born
Moda25 replied to yangshang0's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
My brother in law used his social security in come statement as proof of physical presence and it worked for him. -
Ghana is known to have backlogs however, if the DQ was since June 2021, then it’s too long. My sister in law and her kids were DQ’d around the same time but they had their interviews last year October and are already here. Maybe the petitioner should try and contact the embassy or let their senator contact them on their behalf.

You have enough. I only added our marriage certificate and a couple of pictures of us together and our wedding pictures and was approved. Some of these should be for when the beneficiary goes for the interview. The USCIS understands!

The envelopes with which they received their green cards and social security cards should work. Also, haven’t they ever received any mails from either their care giver or any other company before? For my mom’s state ID, I only used two first class mail envelopes, her green card and social security card to get it.

Interview - missing documents
Moda25 replied to marescarcha's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
@marescarcha Could possibly mean they received the document today and kept it in her file. There’s nothing to be worried about. -

Passport and Documents Delivery after Interview with DX Courier service
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in United Kingdom
@SL2024 That’s good to know. Congratulations to you. When was your visa issued? -
Unfortunately, no one can tell you how long it will take. Last November, my husband and I were in the same situation with the London embassy. They asked for the original divorce certificate from my previous marriage and I mailed it the same day. I even contacted my congressman after waiting for 3 months. It took 6 months before the visa was issued. I went through hell while waiting. He had to redo his medical exam. Good luck to you and your wife.

Passport and Documents Delivery after Interview with DX Courier service
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in United Kingdom
@SL2024 In London! I believe they have only one option to choose from for those in London. I know another person who’s got delayed for only one day. However, I believe everyone’s case is different depending on the delivery driver. They have very bad reviews online though. -
Passport and Documents Delivery after Interview with DX Courier service
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in United Kingdom
@SL2024 Trust me, you are lucky if they come on time and I can 99.99% assure you they won’t return with your package because you authorized your grandma to sign. Those delivery drivers don’t care that much. The one my husband had lied twice that he was at his house and there was no one home. Meanwhile, my husband called off from work for two days just to stay home and wait for the delivery guy. He would track the van to a place close to his home and when he thinks he’s finally here, he won’t show up. He finally had to call for them to change him. -
Passport and Documents Delivery after Interview with DX Courier service
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in United Kingdom
@SL2024 No, that wasn’t an option. You are not given the opportunity to make any changes. However, I can assure you the delivery company is not as strict as you may think. They don’t care much about who signs and receives the package. -

@SL2024You have the option to pick it up at the DX store. I won’t advise you take off and stay home to wait for it because most of the time, they don’t deliver it on the same day as the tracking says. If you can work at your grandmas, then do that. I remember after my husband waited for 2 days with no delivery, he had to call their customer service to arrange for the next day delivery. On the 3rd day, he gave his ID to his sister to receive it on his behalf. -
@JeanneAdil Your concerns are valid and I have the same concerns. The problem is that there’s a high chance the new woman will be told and she will still say she can handle it so she could get to the US. When reality finally sets in, she may then leave OP unfortunately. I’m not a prophet of doom but just being honest.

@bnayak Until they’re in the US, a green card won’t be produced regardless of whether you’ve paid the fee or not.

Getting Medicaid shouldn’t be a reason to be denied citizenship. I had it for both my kids and still got my citizenship in 3 years with no issues.

Administrative Processing at the London Embassy
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
@M S Khan I don’t think the color makes a difference. If you submitted all they asked for, let’s hope you hear back from them soon. Wish she had gone to the interview with them. My husband went with our pictures and copies of my travel tickets. She even went through his phone for more pictures. Yet, they still went to verify from our home country.(I’m 100% sure they did). -

@appleblossom Yes, I know but for her, she wasn’t approved instantly and was handed the green sheet with Additional Administrative Processing checked so it wasn’t the regular one as yours. -
Administrative Processing at the London Embassy
Moda25 replied to Moda25's topic in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
@M S Khan Yes, she checked the Additional Administration part of the green paper. Even though, they say it takes 60 days when you’re in AP, it all depends on your case and what they’re doing with it. It could be less than 60 days or more. As you can see ours took almost 6 months before we heard back from them and my husband had to redo his medical exam. It all depends on what they’re doing with it. If they have to go to wherever you guys got married to verify, as we believe they did with ours, then it’ll take time. I know someone at the same embassy they placed in AP on Wednesday and issued her visa the following Monday. You can never tell with them. -

@M S Khan My husband is not a UK national, he’s a Ghanaian with a UK resident permit. They never told us but we believe they went to Ghana to check if our marriage certificate was genuine. They kept only that and his passport and returned everything else to him. We asked for the passport back after 3 months of waiting though. Is your wife in the UK as well? Is she a national? Did you get married in the UK or US. I’m asking because the consular asked my husband why we didn’t marry in the UK but went to Ghana and my husband told her both our families are in Ghana and our marriage requires both families to be around.
