    Just like @JeanneAdilsaid, wait till the embassy instructs you to redo your medicals because you don’t know how long it would take after you submit your documents to issue your visa. When my husband was placed on AP, his medical was less than one month old but because he was in AP for almost 6 months, the embassy had to instruct him to redo it when the AP was over. We didn’t take any step when it expired until he was told to do so.

    He said they couldn’t go back to Syria and the reason for the asylum and yet the 1st wife after getting her green card visits Syria for 6 months and comes to the US for 1 month. Make this make sense.

    @appleblossomI don’t think the DV lottery ban only affects people from the countries on the ban lists. There’s a whole suspension on visa issuance for DV lottery winners regardless of the country.

    I don’t know about now but when Trump banned immigrant visa issuance during COVID time, my cousin’s immigrant visa interview which was already scheduled was cancelled. She waited for over a year after the ban was lifted by the Biden Administration before she was called for her interview.

    You can be approved at the UCIS stage and get denied at the interview. We have seen instances where K-1s are sent back to NVC and to USCIS after the interview so it’s up to you to work on providing enough evidence to support your case. Someone from a country will be good with just one visit while another in a different country won’t be. You already mentioned it’s a high fraud country so you should know why you need more visits.

    Regardless of whichever you pick, just one visit is not enough. I would go for option 3 if I were you. However, you still need a few more visits.

    Do you mean your wife never lived in the US as an adult? So how do you intend to prove domicile? If she hasn’t filed taxes before, how does she intend to sponsor you?

    You can try but most of the time, you won’t be DQ’d by the NVC and that means your interview won’t be scheduled.

    Even if she is able to remove the condition, without citizenship, how do you intend for her to keep her permanent residence status? Green card doesn’t allow one to stay out of the US for too long.

    Did you mean he had 30 cases in the past? I’m not judging but are you willing to marry someone with that many records? How well do you know this person?

    @Leeman15251 That’s not entirely true. I have friends whose parents moved here and have naturalized after living here for 5 years. Never worked or paid taxes but are on Medicaid and Medicare and receiving SS income and SNAP as well.

    I am from Ghana too but girl, you need to take it slow and study him well. Even I won’t sponsor a man from my own country. This is just my humble advice.

    Someone should correct me if I I’m wrong but I don’t think child support is considered as income for immigration purposes.

    What paperwork did you do to change her last name? With just the marriage certificate, you could have gone to SS office to get her new name on the SS card. If she entered the US with her maiden name on her passport and visa, then it’s likely her green card would be issued in that name.

    It’s not correct that you do not have to bring copies of the Affidavit of Support. Some embassies require the original one that the petitioner signed with an ink.

    I think it’s up to you. I’ve read about instances where the kids grow and are unable to show proof of their citizenships. The passport alone is okay until the proof is needed especially, when both parents are not there to provide the necessary documentation.

    It was the same with my husband and he still received a 10 year green card. You do not have to contact them. Just wait until it arrives.

    My husband did remind him and he still went ahead and stamped his passport with a CR1. However, he was issued a 10 year green card. There are people who got IR1 stamps and still received 2 year green cards in error. You’ll never know until the green card arrives.

    @JeanneAdil I don’t know what you mean by your reply but my mother has been living here with me in Maryland for 8 years so I know what I’m talking about. She could only get Medicaid after her 5 years of residence. My income doesn’t even play any part in that decision making because she is considered an adult on her own with no income.

    Most states won’t give her any benefits if she hasn’t lived in the US as a permanent resident for 5 years.

    So if you didn’t apply for an AP and you overstayed your visa, how do you intend to come back to the US if you reschedule your interview? What kind of visa would you come with?

    @JeanneAdil It looks to me like it was edited to add his then wife to make it look like he was living together with her which wasn’t the case.

    @OldUser Okay, thanks for letting me know. I remember the interviewer telling me if I wanted to keep my last name hyphenated with my husband’s name, then I had to wait but if I drop mine and take my husband’s, it could be done the same day. I didn’t know the rules were different for different places.
