Passport was available for pickup at BLS location two days after ‘issued’, we never had a ‘case approved’ , status jumped from refused to issued same day and it was a Monday. thank you to everyone here for there support. no extra docs were needed at land border crossing but we took marriage certificate in case. we hope everyone here gets to experience the relief soon. We were in AP almost 7 months. issued status took 1 month after we had sent documents which was the most annoying wait but it is possible that reaching out to senator finally set things in motion to get the thing stamped. looks like we had been ‘cleared’ back in september but didnt get request for documents till october so maybe reaching out to senator earlier might have sped things up more. just some thoughts. QUESTION about SSN. We told border people that address had changed so they updated it for GC delivery. For SSN it seems more complicated… we talked to a phone rep today who said theres no way to know where it will go it might go to old address but we can go to our local office to see if they have any info but we might need to be issued another one if the first one indeed go to our previous location… which is annoying… anyone had any experience with this or advice on what to expect? -
Passport at local BLS office now for pickup. Next: Does anyone have a good post/guide to what is needed when crossing the border with IR1 VISA and I need to update the address (from whats mentioned on DS-260) where the green card needs to be delivered, would that be possible at the Port of Entry ?

call them, they can do it over the phone.

Update for anyone who has selected canada post for delivery of the passport back to you, you can call one of the numbers on the link below to choose either the premium delivery to your home or a different courier service pick up location as Canada post is on stirke: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/information/contact_us I chose BLS as the courier for pickup, I am on Ontario.

Hi, After submitting details against DS5535 ~6 months ago to the Montreal Consulate, my spouse was asked for Passport, Photos and 2nd Medical in Oct. The passport got delivered (using Consulate's preferred method of return) on the Oct 24th (as per Canada Post Tracking, signed by a Mr. Phillips) and 2nd medical transmitted at the end of Oct. Upon email inquiry sent around 3rd of Nov, Consulate confirmed on the 19th of Nov that they have received the medical but for the passport mentioned the following; "Please note that all mail directed to the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is received at an offsite mail processing facility. It takes additional time before the mail actually reaches the Visa Unit." We had requested the Senator to inquire as well, and they gave the same response to her office. Now we are worried that Canada post tracking shows passport delivery on 24th Oct & till 22nd Nov consulate has failed to Acknowledge receipt. Has anyone experienced this kind of a delay ?

What is the way they acknowledged receipt of passport do they send a clear email saying they got it from that yatri address or do you just see an update on the courier service that it was delivered??

There must be at least 4-5 of us who have sent their passports in at this point and are just waiting for the issued status, if not more. I have not noticed any major updates in this community since Nov 5, odd the timing with the election i hope it is nonsignificant and news comes through next week… I cannot imagine a justification for keeping the passport for weeks on end but it has happened to others. Oh this is testing my patience truly. I try not to dwell on it but end up checking CEAC multiple times a day 🫠

hey friend s how long do senators/congress people take to respond? i had 4 unsolicited updates mid sept-oct 4 then silence. interview was in april 2024. anyone with similar story?

hi all both senator and congressman of my district are republican , should i even be concerned with their own stance on immigration policy before i contact them?? have you guys had positive outcomes from contacting representatives more right leaning with staunch anti immigration policies?? or should i contact the dem representatives of my state?
