  1. If doing copies can you do electronic, have her make copies? Even if she has to go to a business office of sorts to complete on her end. There are a few helpful Utube videos on the interview in Manila. I realize it can vary, seems any divorce decree can be a biggie. I’m flying over in a few days, months away from any interview. I have a folder I will bring, hopefully most that may be needed in the future.
  2. The main thing is the ‘divorce decree’, all the pages of it. Mine is only 3 pages, kinda simple. For just about everything I did copies.
  3. I’d check airline sites for pet regulations, after that maybe Customs. It should be doable, usually easier if the pet fits in a pet carrier of sorts. The super long flights could be a little to deal with. I do understand the furniture attachment, I’d have to suggest paring it down to the minimum. As we know, moving it will be in the negative economically. It’s just a matter of spending the $$, a local shipping company would have leads to who to talk with. One would like to dismantle if possible, then pack securely, legs off tables, so forth.
  4. Thanks, I put ‘Grab’ on my phone, I’ll try it.
  5. Last time I was over it was just at the airport, then flew to a smaller town down South. This time she will meet me in Manila, one less flight for me.😊 We plan to stay not to far from the Embassy, walk by, St Lukes also. I had heard something about taking a cab. I’ve traveled a fair bit & usually get a handle on things if getting sketchy. Just throwing the question out if anything of note to be aware of. Thanks
  6. Kinda a bummer, hopefully things get going in a more timely fashion. Has it ever been known to happen in spurts? Sadly, seems the delay trend has already been set.
  7. Welcome to the ‘journey’, it’s a slog, things don’t seem to happen fast. I’m going to visit next weekend, looking forward to it. I suggest poking around here some to get a feel for future steps. That’s what I do anyway.
  8. I cross borders a lot with my job. One 1st question, how does the Customs person know if your ring cost $500 or $6000? Do you need to tell everyone you paid the $6k? Just make sure everything is set to get through Customs. I personally wouldn’t worry any about the ring, don’t lose it. I’m sure you can look at the Customs website to find limits on goods & cash. I’ve taken/wore Rolex watches through Customs, no biggie. Now if one is trying to take 10 fakes to resell, that could be a problem. I’m taking a ring international next weekend, not as high $$ as yours, but I have zero concerns. YMMV, shouldn’t though.
  9. I’m not a seasoned expert, but here’s what I would do. First print off the 14 or so pages of instructions for the 129f form, look them over closely. I’d start the form, use the information you have, ask her if you need more. Check it over several times, if you hunt around here you can find reasons where forms hit a snag. It’s often simple things, no signature, wrong payment amount, no proof of meeting, etc.. Again, I’m not saying frivolous, complete it carefully. As you know it takes a while. Her address can be updated later, get all the proper documentation. You want to get the clock ticking. I took nearly 2 weeks to complete my 129f, much was waiting on a corrected passport. There is room, or added pages, to add additional information, addresses, whatever.
  10. Thanks above, I’m behind you a few months. Some of the acronyms, form reference & abbreviations have me searching to be ready for the next steps. My initial file was Jan 19th. I just want to be ready when the next steps come up. I plan a trip to Manila in early March, she will fly in from an outlying city. I plan to bring some things, copies to help, then a list of things to have on hand for later. Here’s a question, if one gets a ‘RFI’(info) is it usually at the USCIS stage, NVC or either??
  11. Early on I’d say yes, don’t know what once you get an embassy appointment. What about mail forwarded? Possible in Canada easily??
  12. Seems kinda minor to me, especially with together type pictures included. They should be able to figure it out.
  13. I’m a little new here, but I learned to print out the 129F instructions and read them CAREFULLY. One needs to also check pertinent info on the USCIS site, it’s all there. Go slow & triple check everything.
  14. If that’s true, how do we get to the nearly one year for the embassy interview? Is the package at the NVC for months? Yes, I peeked at timelines. I also looked at the times before Covid, MUCH quicker. Just asking, yes I’m going with the flow.
  15. My question was, from the USCIS receipt/arrival notice to NVC takes over, averages how much time? It seems like about 5-6 months? Is that close for an average?
  16. So once accepted at the USCIS it moves through over near 6 months before the NVC? After at the NVC things move a little faster? Once at the USCIS(my/our phase), but before the NVC, anything one should be doing? We plan to meet again in March. I will write a list of things needed for form 160, medical, and interview, I realize some may require a recent time stamp. Yes, I’ll look at a ‘timeline’ again, just asking.
  17. I don’t have specific advice, except to say, you have options, Canada seems kinda easy. Good luck.
  18. I see the position of ‘driver’, I’d add the type of driver. I’d try to list the company you were subcontracted to drive for. I didn’t recall how much contact information with employer was required, remember some. I went slow & completed the 129f best I could. I figured it was best to try to avoid the RFI, more information.
  19. Are you already deep into the I-129F process?
  20. May not be time to change anything. I’d keep the interview & bring both, explain as needed, if necessary. You could work to change it also, if able to start the process bring any receipt of the change request. I’m not sure of the timetable with a change. I’ve done different similar form change requests, often the receipt of the change request is enough to satisfy requirements. The rest seems in order. With what it takes to get to an interview, I’d be very hesitant to reschedule it.
  21. Seems like a question for the hospital. Another idea is to hire a ‘sitter’(vetted) for a few hours, then have this sitter watch the child while Mom is in a room. You could do this in the waiting room or just outside. This way any separation is short, won’t interfere with exam.
  22. I’m not so much thinking about any Covid vaccine, just wondering if we should get ahead of anything before the medical appointment. It sounds like if something was missing, it could be given at that check? Side question, our 129F was received , CA receipt number, just a week ago. What’s the next step? Does it eventually go to that NVC, or whatever that acronym is? Besides any next steps & notifications, should we be doing anything now? I plan another visit to the Philippines in March, of course add to the bonafide relationship evidence.
