I just recently submitted my I-129F application, and I had a question about the unofficial requirement for a Dinh Hon/Dam Hoi/Engagement Party for the HCMC Consulate. I did not frontload or attach any engagement party photos/evidence with my I-129F application out of fear that it would look too much like a wedding to USCIS. I have heard that the HCMC/Vietnamese Embassy usually have a decision made even before the interview actually starts. Did I do myself a disservice by not attaching Dinh Hon Evidence to my I-129F application? Or will it be fine to bring this evidence to the interview when that day comes (even if the consulate may have already made a pre-determined decision before the interview). Thank you!

I did not frontload/attach my I-129F petition/packet with any evidence of the Dinh Hon/Dam Hoi/Engagement party. Will this cause an automatic rejection if my petition ever reaches the Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City? I have heard that the HCMC Embassy usually already has a decision made (pink slip, blue slip 221g) before one even shows up for the interview. I did not attach any Dinh Hon evidence due to it appearing too similar to a "wedding" to USCIS. I am not exactly sure what the process is for HCMC, Vietnam and how to include the Dinh Hon evidence.

Hi, I just sent my I-129F application on 12-04-2023, USPS delivered to Dallas Lockbox on 12-08-2023, and received a $535.00 Credit Card charge from "United States Government Agency" on 12-11-2023. From here, will my application be sent to a random processing center (California, Nebraska, Potomac, Texas, Vermont) regardless of what my state of residency is (California)? Or is California (CSC) the only faciility that is processing I-129Fs currently? Thank you so much! Looks like it might be a 2 year wait for me.

I was planning on making a separate physical photo album for our Le Vu Quy if the Consular Officer decides they want to take a peek. Only sent in photos from before the ceremony and during our trips in Thailand and in Phu Quoc Pearl Island.

Hi @JasonGG, ours say Lễ Vu Quy, which apparently is "Wedding". Should I resubmit a CR-1 instead?

Does the U.S. Consulate in HCMC Vietnam care if the Welcome Sign for the ceremony says Lễ Đính Hôn vs. Lễ Vu Quy?

Hi, My question is about the Embassy in HCMC, Southern part of Vietnam. Are the consular officers there trained to know the different between a Engagement Party ( Lễ đính hôn) and an Official Wedding (Lễ Tân Hôn) Party and what they deem acceptable and not acceptabe when it comes to applying for a K-1 or CR-1. How about a Lễ Vu Quy? Will they expect Photos/Video if such a party happened. My fiancée and I had a Lễ đính hôn and were wondering if that could be cause for K-1 deniable, and possibly may need to refile for a CR-1 instead.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has recently (or in the last few years), have had their K-1 Fiancée Interview at the U.S. Consulate/Embassy in HCMC, South Vietnam. I'm preparing a list of 100 questions to go over with my Fiancée and I hope to prepare her as best as possible. The HCMC Embassy is one of the strictest embassies in the world due to the high volume of cases, and high cases of fraud (VN nationals paying to get a green card/spouses leaving after getting permanent residency). My fiancée doesn't speak English and me being a Vietnamese-American am trying to prepare her for even the most difficult questions possible. Thank you so much!

I (Vietnamese-American (M)) am currently in the process of submitting my I-129F application to USCIS for my Vietnamese national fiancée (F). My fiancée's parents would like to have a religious tea ceremony as soon as possible in Vietnam. Under Vietnamese law, Vietnam does not recognize a wedding as a legal (bona fide) marriage unless there is a valid marriage certificate or document on file with the government. Is USCIS knowledgeable in the laws for a specific country (Vietnam)? If I were to go through with filing a I-129F instead of a I-130, will USCIS be following Vietnamese law, or can they still deny us on their own account for being "too married" regardless if it was bona-fide or not. Essentially, if my fiancée and I have a big ceremony for all of her family and friends (and mine as well, as we are both Vietnamese), but do not file for a marriage certificate (non bona-fide marriage), will we still be fine for a K-1 Fiancée Visa? Or will we be denied and would have to petition/start all over. Thank you so much!
