Met over 8 years ago (Dec 2001) while as an exchange student in a small Brazilian town. Her family was one of three host families I stayed with that year (though nothing happened). Visited Brazil again two years later and stayed in her house again just as friends. In 2005, she came to do exchange in the U.S. in a small town in the Midwest. When she came to visit me, we started to hit it off and become close friends. shortly before she left for Brazil, we began dating and I visited her and her host family before she left. For over two years we had been dating long-distance with 3 trips to Brazil and one trip to the U.S. the last trip to Brazil in January 2008 was when got engaged. Should be a good story to tell the grandkids, huh?
